EDIT: This is a weird situation. So Parsons was upset that Memphis didn't have a plan to get him back on the court. He said they offered a G league stint but didn't give him a timetable of how long it would be so he turned it down. Memphis apparently just came to him and offered for him to play the 3 game home stand the G league team has and then move him back up with the Grizzlies and he declined. Now they are parting ways.

It goes to show this deal should have never been consummated in the first place. Now the Grizzlies have egg on their faces for their results. Good luck finding a sucker to take on Parsons and his deal. The best case scenario for them is to use the stretch provision on Parsons and pay him for the next three years.

Sounds like someone has finally realizing his mistake.

The deal was not the problem, but doing the deal and waiving the physical and thus not having the contract insured was the huge mistake.

I'd rather not use the stretch provision. Just get it off the books in one year. This offseason, see if you can move him as an expiring contract for a longer contract (like Batum) or if no one has interest you can tell him you'll buy him out if he gives part of the money back. If he won't give up any money, you just keep him to use as an expiring at the trade deadline.

The one name that continues to stick out is Nicolas Batum. However he like CP has issues with his injuries and has an extra year to his contract. I can't deal with such of return.

I've been examining different scenarios involving the Grizzlies to restructure the roster for their quasi-competing they are doing this season. Keeping in mind, I have doubts they will reach the playoffs and have no choice but to focus on rebuilding come this off-season.

I agree that a rebuild is likely IF we convey the pick to Boston. That is significantly more important than whether or not we successfully make the playoffs. And then this summer when the cap jumps up and teams have cap space, we can maybe move Marc/Mike to one of the teams that struck out in FA.

I don't see Batum being an option unless the deal is done during this season. To do the deal in the off season when Chandler would only have 1 year remaining does not make sense. Now if you are trading for a longer term deal on a player like Andrew Wiggins who is younger and no history of injuries then YES that sort of deal could happen now or in the off season. My problem is that it is doubtful that the front office is actually shopping him and a team that wants to get rid of a player would be pushing for the deal. This front office just has no sense of urgency. They can only shop at the Dollar Tree and pass by Neiman Marcus without ever going in.

I do agree that trading Parsons contract during the off season will be pointless as it will be an expiring contract. I still have my doubts the Grizzlies will manage to find another team who's willing to help them out. It's likely for another bad contract or another player with enough baggage or something.

Andrew Wiggins is a miss for me as he is another inconsistent player with an undeserving contract.

If the Magic start tanking I suggested Fournier and Augustine for Parsons, a 2022 1st and 2 2nd rounders.

Parsons is from the Orlando area and if he couldn't play he can do PR in the community.
