Until Memphis start to trim the fat, all that matters is that 3J had a decent game.

Nice to see Marko have some good moments too.

Honestly I only care how Ja, Clarke, and JJJ do really. Grayson Allen, Dillon Brooks, Tyus, Melton, Marko, and Bruno are of secondary interest. The vets I hope do well in order to show the young guys how to play/keep the games kinda competitive and maybe most importantly increase their trade value as much as possible. "Trimming the fat" or balancing the roster is something for later. #WisemanWatch #GetEdwards

Maybe I didn't state it right but hat's what I meant. Teams are only as good as their weakest link & or links, Memphis do need at least one more building block. It's hard for a team looking to win to develop one rookie more less 4 or more. The development process of these young players alone will cost Memphis games. It's the same principle behind playoff teams shortening their rosters... addition by subtraction, less holes, less mistakes that's why it's kind of hard listening to the hot takes when the Grizzlies lose. I'm actually surprised they have 2 wins already playing as deep as they have plus restricting minutes of their better players. Morant plays maybe 4-6 mins before being subbed no matter how well he's playing. Remember the Sixers recent tank job, they didn't start winning until they added some veteran compliments & traded away a couple of their top picks that didn't pan out (Okafor, Noel, Fultz) all top 5 picks.

While we hope some others stand out, I agree the priority is the core talent. If 3J continues to struggle that development would be a big set back. I'm hoping this decent game from him is not because Morant wasn't dominating the ball being out. Morant has had trouble running the pnr with both 3J & Jonas. On the role Morant tries to cut back into the lane occupying the same space as the role big. Give him some tape on how Lowry ran it. That Lowry hpr with Jonas was the Raptors most efficient offensive play for 7 seasons.

IMO the Grizz's best wing is currently playing for the Hustle on an expiring contract. (21/13/5/2/2) in his 2nd game. I think the reason why Jackson didn't pan out with the Suns is the fact he struggled with the 3 ball & they had no real PG play but in Memphis uptempo transition game with Morant he'd be an all round defensive wing, with hopefully improving range. (4-9 40% in his first 2 games with the Hustle). Suns dumping him, they were at a different stage of a rebuild in wanting to make the playoffs to wait on that potential development, his off court antics didn't help the situation either so they cut bait.

I can get behind all of that. I still really like the Josh Jackson gamble even if it doesn't pay off and we let him walk this summer. He probably can play SF for us if we end up drafting a SG given his size so our roster is still super flexible (not that we wouldn't draft Anthony Edwards due to Josh Jackson having a decent stretch during the season). Here's to hoping he matures a bit so that he can actually stick around for us.

I also think that some portion of the JV PnR issues are on JV himself. He still seems to be knocking rust off a bit. Yes, the biggest issue is Ja and honestly you hope Jenkins really focuses in on the Ja/JJJ PnR at some point this season, but JV hopefully will make things a little easier for Ja as the season goes on.
