I kinda wish Conley would have had a big game. Hate that he has been struggling a good bit so far.
It's bitter sweet all around.
It's a good thing Memphis young players are figuring out how to win but that pick owed feels like it will bite Memphis as a result of the early development because they're definitely not going to be bottom 5 in 2021 with a years growth. Jaren didn't play all that well, the refs decided to put Jazz on the line 30 times in the 2nd half & it didn't matter.
With Jonas on minutes restriction, 3J struggling early with fouls & a new young coach trying to integrate a new system, develop chemistry with the 2nd youngest roster, 5 of the 7 losses have come against teams that started the year off well. Memphis have only faced 4 teams with a losing record. One of them being a win over the Nets. 3 of the 7 losses have come against teams that sit atop of their divisions. They're currently a game & a half out of a playoff spot behind the Mavs having faced a strong early schedule. They sit equal or better than 15 teams.
Memphis losses
Lakers 10-2
Houston 9-3
Heat 8-3
Suns 7-4
Mavs 6-4
Orlando 5-7
Bulls 4-8
What will happen when they start facing the bottom half of the East, NOP, GS, Knicks …?
I hope they have something with Josh & that they can retain him because it looks like that pick is in the rear view mirror.
