Ja out 3-5 weeks with ankle sprain

Post#1 » by VCfor3 » Tue Dec 29, 2020 10:54 pm

Ja Morant will miss the next three to five weeks with a Grade 2 ankle sprain.

Morant landed on the foot of Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot attempting a block.

Morant left the floor in a wheelchair and later returned to the bench in a walking boot.

Good it means it was only a partial tear. Much easier to heal up from that and it not effect him long term. I'm guessing closer to 5 weeks than 3 given our FO's tendency to try and protect our young guys.

I’ve been mad about the absence of a third pg in our roster for quite some time

I think they penciled Winslow in as the third PG but trusting his health was illadvised if so.

They should have signed a two-way pg instead of McDermott.

Definitely agree. They still could I guess.

On the other hand, I have searched quickly for 2-way pg among the other teams... Nothing interesting... Maybe this is the reason...

The main thing here is that Ja recovers and hopefully is 100% by the time February gets here.

You have to think the NBA front office have some of their personnel read boards like ours and "maybe" attempt to do their diligence to plug in the issues to the roster to some extent.

Then the next move should be Winslow and Dieng for Porter Jr.

I would also anticipate a call from Brooklyn offering their 1st 2021 and/or Allen together with Prince and/or Dinwiddie for some or all of our 2nd line guys: Kyle, Tyus, and Melton.

I've always been interestrd in Otto Porter being a Grizzly for a couple of seasons now. His 3&D skills plus his rebounding would be a great asset to the Grizzlies core. Plus he being an expiring contract also benefits the Grizzlies cap space in the upcoming offseason.

Prince doesn't move the needle for me. Dinwiddle unfortunately is out for the season. With Ja out for a few weeks, the Grizzlies can't afford to give up Tyus in a trade right now.

We should only trade for Porter Jr. if we intend to sign him.

Re Brooklyn, the desired assets are 1st 2021 and Allen, not Prince or Dw.
