Getting traded to Memphis is the best thing that could have happened to Jonas career. Maybe after this game Memphis fans can get that expiring, 2nd round pick they wanted for him.

I've said it before & this is a good game to reiterate. The reason Cavs were the Raptors stumbling block was because their high powered offense, Lebron/Love front court along with a **** whistle could either neutralize or play Jonas defense off the court, in part because he was paired with DeRozan's perimeter defense. IMO, Any other team in the East, Raptors could/would have made it to the finals a couple more times, with Jonas & DeRozan, more less Jonas paired with Kawhi, instead of DeRozan.

The year Raptors made the finals. They played 3 teams that couldn't punish a slow footed C. Both Magic & Philly were poor 3pt shooting teams & they sagged off of Giannis vs the Buck's before meeting a severely injured Warriors team that took them to 6. The only reason Philly were able to take them to a last possession shot in 7 was because Raptors were playing 4 on 5 on offense with Gasol. He was a better defensive option than Jonas could have been but Raptors didn't play Vucevic or Embiit straight up either. They boxed in & cheated off of Philly's & Magic poor shooting/shooters to double, triple team. No doubt in my mind these matchups would have favored Jonas as well though he may not have been as effective defensively as Gasol, who on the other hand, was non existent offensively. Which is why Philly managed to push 7. A team, Raptors dominated because of their poor shooting in the regular season, with Jonas.

Jonas paired with 3J who's on a path to be better than Ibaka, in small ball situations, gives Memphis a dominant /PF/C rotation according to matchups. With all of Tillman, Clarke & Anderson being good to great complimentary pieces. Memphis, IMO, are set at PF/C & PG. Both in quality & depth.

Winslow/Brooks & Bane as contrasting options have shown, Memphis need more than someone who can stretch the floor, they need a wing who can be aggressive like Dillon to take the pressure of Ja but be more efficient, like Bane.

The **** was Bertans crying about.. Memphis got absolutely destroyed by "momentum" calls in this game.

Jonas overreaction to any call in his favor was because he was being fouled on almost every play by a weaker/smaller defender. One play Ja lobs to him & he is undercut, which crashes him to the floor on a made bucket but there was no FT. While Tillman was fouled out for breathing on Beal & Westbrook who got to the line routinely with little to no contact.

Officiating (Momentum shift) was the main reason Wizards pulled close briefly took the lead 3rd Q. Otherwise, Memphis win by 30, not 15.

This game has Wizards fans trying to trade for a starting C upgrade to help their leading scoring SG & former MVP point guard.

How can that be..., I've read the big man & post game is dead & that's It's a guards league.

When it's all said & done. Memphis with Jonas & Jaren will be able to match any style of play at an elite level in multiple combinations with Tillman, Clarke & Anderson adding quality versatility & depth.

It would be nice for that wing upgrade but it's also entirely possible this team could improve still internally as there's no substitute for playing together, inevitably built & sustained chemistry.

A lot credit Masai's ability to draft & trade but I think it was his patience that has lead to his success. He could have & was willing to blow up that Raptors team on several occasions & didn't..

Sometimes, the best move, is the one not made.

JV feasts on bigs that are worse than him, but really really struggles against bigs better than him. Most teams don't have a big that are better than him but still could be something that matters come playoffs.
