GS 16 FT's first Q.
At least their announcer finally got it right. The FT's is the only thing keeping GS in it with a poor shooting Q.

IF there was any doubt about what I said in the last game thread. Memphis playing better than they did last night so at the half, GS have 25 FTA's & are on pace to shoot 50FT's for the game.

Up to 34 halfway through the 3rd compared to 24 for the good guys.

From this point, Grizz get to the line 7 times to none for 31 FTA's to 34 & of course win comfortably by 8 as a result.

Winslow a team high -17 in an 8pt win.
Great defender but his offense is offsetting his defense. IMO, he's a bigger version of Brooks, except I'd trust the inefficient Brooks taking a shot from 3 more.
Anderson is not as good defensively as Winslow but his 2 way game is more impactful..
IMO Grizzlies issue has been their offensive efficiency, not their defense. Winslow's defense & lack of offense mirrors that problem.

Offense is very much the big problem. Ideally Winslow takes the toughest wing defensive assignment, provides a little secondary playmaking/creation, and takes 5-8 shots a game that are all great looks or else he keeps the ball moving. Brooks is similar except you give him the toughest guard defensive assignment and rely much less on his secondary playmaking. Still can rely on his shot creation a little when needed but ideally he is an emergency option rarely used.

With Ja struggling from range & Dillon being inefficient, Memphis can't have Winslow struggling offensively or in a minimalist role, there'd be no adequate spacing for either Ja or Winslow's play making ability. It's why the offense has taken a nose dive.. The defense would be even better if Memphis didn't give up easy offensive possessions.
Unfortunately, Ja regressing from 3 was an unexpected development.

I honestly wouldn't mind resting Ja some. He plays so much better when fresh. I feel like a lot of his 3pt shots come up short this season.

JV has arguably been the team's best player as of late

Yeah though a couple people did a deep dive on his numbers and our team actually plays a little better when JV doesn't ha. The theory is that that is because the others are playing well and we don't need to lean on JV when we win and that when everyone else is playing like garbage and we try to lean heavily on JV it just isn't enough. Either way was kind of interesting.

A little off topic. Ja has been demonstrative about the whistle he's getting.
Early in DeRozan's career he too couldn't buy a foul playing for the lone Canadian team .. It wasn't until he started playing for team USA did he start to get some ""respect". Which then led to his name in the Allstar game, which led to more "respect..
That favorable whistle is a popularity contest, (Building a brand) The more known/popular you are, the better the treatment.. If the opportunity arises for Ja & or Jaren to make team USA ... that exposure would be to theirs & Memphis's benefit.

I think Ja and Jaren both didn't make the upcoming USA roster sadly

I was of the impression that it's not their time just yet. With 3J not playing this season, this didn't come as a surprise to me. I'm expecting him to get his opportunity to represent if and when the time comes. As for Ja, he will get his chance for sure. Just like 3J the opportunity will show itself at the right time.
