The Los Angeles Lakers have agreed to trade Marc Gasol, a 2024 second round pick and cash to the Memphis Grizzlies for the draft rights to Wang Zhelin.
The deal saves the Lakers $10 million in salary and luxury tax expenditures.
Gasol and the Grizzlies will work on a buyout and release to allow him to remain in Spain. Gasol had a $2.7 million deal for the 21-22 season.
The Grizzlies will have to release a player in order to complete this trade and they already have a deal with the Boston Celtics queued up for September 15th.
Great to see Marc retire as a Grizzly. I could see him play a couple years in Spain with his brother before ultimately retiring from basketball. And then there was one still playing from the Core Four.
(Also nice to get a 2nd round pick the way we burn through them ha)
