Clap Back from KT to 3J

Post#1 » by SD2042 » Sat Jun 18, 2022 6:07 am

https://warriorswire.usatoday.com/2022/06/17/klay-thompson-takes-shot-at-grizzlies-jaren-jackson-jr-for-early-season-strength-in-numbers-tweet/

According to the NBA Game Six post-game conference, Warriors SG Klay Thompson pointed to a previous tweet by Grizzlies PF Jaren Jackson Jr. that was stated "Strength in Numbers" . It was a slogan used by the Warriors a few seasons back. Although 3J tweeted this post back in March during the regular season when the Grizzlies beat the Warriors during that game, apparently Klay took the tweet personally and utilized that as motivation to for the Finals and to clap back at 3J in return.

One can say that one's trash talk deserves another. One can say you're not tall enough to ride on this ride. One may say petty or hypocritical much. One thing is certain. The seed that has been planted by both KT and 3J may level up the rivalry between both Grizzlies/Warriors teams respectively. The 4 time champion team vs. a young contender team on the come up. The saga continues.......

Our kids somehow managed to get under the champions’ skin? That’s why we love them.

Klay just won a championship and he wants to talk about JJJ. JJJ is living in that head rent free.

I love it. We talk so much smack and drunk Klay talked it back with a ring on his finger. Just adds fuel to our guys fire this offseason I imagine.

For me personally, I wouldn't brought that up if I was Klay. All he did was put himself and the Warriors on the bull eyes board for the Grizzlies. The Warriors can enjoy their championship win. This story is long from over.

I get the back and forth but am surprised at how long it is lasting. Felt like a fun moment that would be forgotten till next season but it is still going.

My take on this whole issue is that the comment made by 3J was done back in March during the regular season. As far as my knowledge, it wasn't addressed at that time by members of the Warriors. Then comes the Game 6 post game championship talk that Klay reveals how 3J's tweet from three months ago motivated him to show that the Warriors still got while slummin 3J in a bumfest and circus tent for a mock made three months ago. It's fine that someone can draw motivation from any positive or negative situation and make the best out of it. If it helps you then great. I think however, in spite of the fact that the Warriors are the four time champs, Klay may have put a bullseye on their backs with the Grizzlies here.

Granted this current Grizzlies squad is still young and building up on their playoff creds, this is a team that will not let this go. Seems to remind me of the expression "Do Not Poke the Bears." Too much fight with this bunch albeit cocky at times. They are still confident and unafraid of the smoke. As this rivalry builds over on twitter, I look forward to when the real action happens on the hardwood in the next season. Sometimes a good rivalry is good for the competition.

The experienced champion Warriors vs. the upcoming brash Grizzlies. To Be Continued.......

We got skyscrapers in his head. That makes me so happy. He just won a title and he's still got the Grizz on his mind from two rounds ago.

Looks like the rivalry keeps intensifying between these two teams. Just as KT used 3J's tweet to motivate himself to play better and win the chip. The Grizzlies in turn use Draymond Green's podcast quote to motivate themselves to play to much better standards of bball. How far will they go when the season begans? Only time will tell.

I hope we get them for a Christmas Day game even though JJJ will either still be out or just coming back and likely not in shape

Each game these two teams meet will set the tone for the playoffs when these two teams will eventually have to met somewhere down the road. This will be the season the Grizzlies need to get their fundamentals on point and keep the confident even stronger. Also their still young and can be cocky at times, this season, they need to bring some maturity to the table. The West is growing more as a gauntlet. So the Grizzlies must mind their Ps and Qs out there. Every win counts. The playoffs, anything goes.
