Worst case, if Danny stays, then I think it is Killian Tillie. Really, we should switch Chandler to a two way and put Lofton on the active roster.

I agree Tillie is likely gone but I expect Lofton to stay on the 2 way for now. He will get some run this year but I doubt he is someone that matters come playoffs. If that changes then we deal with it, but I think it will take time for his defense to get where we need it to be.

I say that because I think Kennedy is even further away from making an impact and will need to spend the next 2 years in the G League before we can get a sense for the player he is going to be. Even if there are some concerns about his D, Lofton can produce on O immediately.

Oh I agree Lofton is likely closer to a real NBA player right now of the two. I just don't think either of them are all that close overall though and Lofton won't be close enough to justify waiving Kennedy in order to swap them. Lofton can play plenty of RS games so no big deal. Neither will sniff the playoff rotation. But maybe I'm wrong, Lofton kills it, and then it is in fact worth it to eat Kennedy's money and put him on the two-way. At that point make it happen and let Lofton be an offensive spark off the bench next time we see the Warriors. Unless that happens though I say just ride it out. There may end up being a trade that leaves an open roster spot where we can sign Lofton and not waive Kennedy.

A lot might happen between today and the start of the season, so FO’s decision about cutting the roster by that time might likely involve very different considerations…

I'm thinking Tillie mainly will be the odd man out as he's far back in the rotation. Also Danny Green's future is in the air as he's still on injured reserve going into the 2023 season. Who's to say the Grizzlies may use DG's contract to trade him away for some future picks to open up a roster.

I'm still hoping we end up with some great trade that sorts the roster situation a bit. Would love to find a way to steal Brown in the potential KD to Boston deal.

Memphis has to sweeten the pot and a lot of details need to be added, but the basis of the deal be something like:
Mitchell+ to BKN
KD to BOS
Brown to MEM
Memphis rebuilding package to UTA

That would be awesome, though the Nets would surprise me if they prefer Mitchell over Brown.

Anyway, speaking of the rebuilding package, would you include ZW or Bane?

That would be very interesting if such a deal could take place. I would like it if JB were to become a Grizzly. Beneficial for us. Although I think the Celtics would be loser here as they would be taking on a KD who's heading to the back end of his highlight career plus his history of injuries. If I had a choice between Z or Bane, I choose Bane to keep and Z to trade away as both he and JB play the same position.
