The Grizzlies GM Zach Klienman holds a press conference on NBA Draft Night to discuss draft opportunities, the Desmond Bane trade, where the Grizzlies stand, and build around Ja and 3J.

Him saying "we aren't one piece away" is true but it stinks that we were a piece or two away before he went for a big youth movement. I doubt it matters because of the endless injuries we have faced the last few years, but still. (And to his credit he did try making trades for that last piece or two but we couldn't get others to bite on our offers)

The Bane move did set the Grizzlies back a bit. With the WC more competitive now, this makes things more challenging for the Grizzlies. Especially when the injuries continue to pull the Grizzlies down at times. Although the moves the Grizzlies did were pretty good. These moves certainly do not spell championship contender. They may be at least a couple of seasons away to say the least.

To be honest, I give much less fyck about championship than about our team keeping its identity and being sustainably full of talented dawgs.
