Random draft day trade question (Rose/Conley)

Do not take offense at this, and if I am completely off base let me know.
Let us say that Minnesota gets the 1st pick this year. And Memphis gets a 5-7 pick range.
Let us assume also that Minnesota is interested in trading down. This is something that is talked about a bit because we have many needs.
Now, let me assume again that Memphis is further along in the rebuild process and it looking for the home run hit. Best case example would be Rose.
Would memphis be willing to make a deal with minnesota in order to move up and take Rose.
Here is the deal I thought of
Conley/pick for 1st pick/2nd rd (top 35) Boston's next year and filler (just to make the contracts work)
This would get Memphis Rose as well as another early 2nd pick. (and the boston pick next year to sweeten the deal)
Minnesota gets 2 pieces to help in its rebuild process with Conley and whoever we take with the 5-7 range.
Like I said originally, I am not trying to flame your board and if I am completely off base here let me know. I just think this could benefit both teams.

I don't think the gap between Conley and Rose is worth the Grizz 1st.

I dont wanna give up Conley. He is improving a lot and can turn out really good.

Thank you guys for giving me feed back.
Let us start with somethings again.
MN 1st overall
MEM 5-7th overall
*In my assumption Mem wants D.Rose. Very likely that he is the homerun hit super star and plays nearby college ball. All factors that make the man-crushing likely.
So lets start a hypothetical talk. I mentioned Conley because I could see him filling a need on the wolves, but also possibly being expendable with Rose coming in. Knowing that he is a legit talent I threw in the Boston 1st (next year) and also a 2nd for this year (which would be 30-35 range).
If this is not fair value, or if you have another idea I would be open to discussing it.
Another possibility would be
1st pick/Jaric
for
7th/Lowry/expiring (damon or swift)
In that situation MN would probably want a little more. like a lotto protected first. If Mem was unwilling to do that perhaps we could go
1st/Jaric/Madsen/Buckner
for
7th/lowry/damon/swift
This becomes a cap clearing situation for Minnesota with the only asset coming back Lowry. Memphis commits cap in this situation.
Personally, I think working with Conley and figuring compensation is an easier idea, but let me know what you guys think.

You are vastly over rating Rose's value due to the UofM factor IMO.
However, the second trade offer is very reasonable and would be appealing - to me at least.
Also, don't get too wrapped up/fall in love with the idea of having the #1 pick. Folks around here know all too well that worst record =/= #1 pick

Thank you for setting me straight on the Rose thing. I was under the impression that you guys really, really, really wanted Rose. (*like the 14 yr olds want Alba on the GenBoard)
I understand there is not a good chance we get the 1st. Ironically, I would almost rather have the 4th because there is less chance to screw up. Beasley is waaay to much of a red flag for me. Jordan is as raw as tuna.
I do like the second pick idea also. I think Lowry with Foye would be good, and minnesota would have a chance to get some expirings. Then you guys could have a back-court of Conley/Rose.

Apparently the OP forgets that the Griz had the worst record last season and forgot how that worked out for us in the lottery.
In fact, don't be shocked if the Griz finish 4th or 5th worse in the league and be drafting higher than Minny.

I am the OP, notice in the OP I say it is hypothetical. knowing that you could get the 1st and we could get the 2nd or even the 4th.

C-Milicic
PF-Gasol
SF-Gay
SG-Rose
PG-Conley
I like that 2nd one alot more

Minnesota is simple trying to clear contracts. If Memphis was willing to take on the contracts it would work well for both teams. We like Lowry and we need a 5 more than any other position. So with the 5-7 we could grab Jordan if he drops or Hibbert even.

My apologies for not reading your post thoroughly. (not going to give excuses)
With Memphis being a small market, we're simply not going to be willing to take on contracts like that.

I think the Grizzlies would be very smart to try to acquire Derrick Rose in the draft this year. The Grizzlies want to be an uptempo team with Coach I and i think having Gay and Rose would really make be dynamic.
I think a trade that would be fair would be Conley to Portland for their pick (14-17) and Martell Webster. Then The Grizzlies pick and the Portland pick to Minnesota (who likely want a big guy like Jordan/Hibbert) for their pick.
Memphis Drafts Rose number one
Minnesota takes Jordan to pair next to their new franchise player and then picks up another guard later with the 15-17 overall pick.. Portland gets a great young point guard who has good character and is best friends with their best player..
Blazers become
Oden
Aldridge
Outlaw
Roy
Conley (potential dynasty if things were to work out)
Memphis becomes
Milicic
Gasol
Miller (eventually Webster)
Gay
Rose
Minnesota becomes
Jordan
Jefferson
Brewer/
(Draft selection)/McCants
Foye
That team would be a big team at each position.. 7'0 at c huge at pf, 6'9 at small forward, 6'4 at point..
each team gets an identity and each team goes on their way

No thanks.
If anything, the Grizz draft Rose and keep both he and Conley.

Why? why would you give your self a small backcourt like this.. the point of having Derrick Rose is so he can use his length to frustrate opposing Point guards, dont become bulls v.2.

Why? Why the heck not. Wholly disagree with you, not that it matters. Who knows what pick we're going to have anyway? This discussion would be much better served taking place when we know what pick we have anyway...

"is best friends with their best player"
You say Oden is thier best player based on ??? How well he did at Ohio St?
Portland trading for Conley, when they allready have guards like Roy, Blake, Jack and Sergio Rodriguez, makes as much sense as the Grizzlies drafting a PG with thier 1st round pick for the 3rd straight year. Plus your trade idea has to many "what if's" in it.
I beleive in the "Best Player Available" but we might have to make an exception if we pick so high this year that Rose is still available.
Don't get me wrong, I think Derrick Rose will be a great NBA player but the Grizzlies have alot more pressing needs.
