from the great ron tillery

Past interest (in Stro) indicates New Jersey might emerge as one suitor. Earlier this season, the Griz are said to have turned down a deal that would have sent Swift to the Nets for Jamaal Magloire, who is in the final year of a deal that pays $4million. (emphasis mine)

and i just puked....

if we turned down Magloire (an expiring contract) for Stro, we might need to check Wallace's sanity....

as soon as wallace hear the words "trade...stro...expiring", he should have said "yes, send over the paper work" and then started pumping his first in the air....

Forget expiring, Magette is either as productive or more productive than Stro. I wouldn't believe the story.

Magloire would spell another big man to come off the bench when Darko had to get some rest. His rebounding and defense would helped the Grizz out some. I wonder though with MI's system would Magloire fit into the rotation. If he could and CW turned down the wrong deal, he missed the boat. If not, then it may explain why CW turned the trade down.

some updates on the SoB post if you are interested.....

verno claims the deal is bogus and made up...

tillery updates his blog to re-iterate the trade offer and then also say that nj also offered collins for stro....

Collins for Stro makes no sense for the Grizz. Collins is guaranteed next year, at least with Stro there's a chance (however unlikely) that he doesn't reup on his option.

Mags (+filler) for Stro is a steak + dessert.

In the case of Verno. His dislike for Stro makes him sound a bit bias here since he pretty much refers to Stro as a bum bball player w/o the IQ. As for Tillery's update. Him dropping the bomb about the Stro/Magloire trade came at a coinidencial(sp) time with Stro's suspension. Did Tillery drop this piece of news b/c the public had a right to know or did he drop this news to add more negative PR towards the Grizz organization. Although they don't need much help with the record and attendence problems.

why would anyone pay any attention to either tillery or vernon? tillery continued to ignore the pau saga last season, saying that there was no story. vernon is a weinberger coffee fetcher who is the worst thing to hit radio since....well, since the invention of the radio.

I'm sorry, but Weinberger is the worse one in sports radio today. Hell, the majority of Sports 56 needs to make some changes to their on air hosts. Verno definately has the personality of a animated manchild with some immaturity issues. Yet his show brings some efficient info to the listeners and can be entertaining at times. Tillery is a decent beat writer who some fans love to hate b/c they feel he doesn't bring report the Grizz news as efficiently as he should. Tillery can only do what's within his capable hands. Live with it or don't read his writings at all.

Pau's still on the Griz, and he's still the focal point.... so there really doesn't seem to have been a real story.

According to NJ press, a Stro for Collins deal is being worked on and could be completed this weekend if not today. Not sure how reliable the source is though...
