I'm a Laker fan. And although as much as we love the signing of Gasol, loosing a bright young player in J-Critt was a bit sad.

Most of us Laker fans believe that J-Critt will one day become a legit starter in this league, if not even a future possible All-Star in the making. A lot of Laker fans saw J-Critt and Bynum to be our future.

He's very creative off the dribble, like a young Steve Francis (but humble), plus he's got the range, the quickness, the flash, the athletics, and the basketball IQ to be good in this league. The only reason this rookie isn't getting playing time is because of Jordan Farmar's breakout sophomore season. But Phil Jackson (known for hardly playing rookies) has said countless times that he wants to find minutes for this rookie because he knows he's something special.

In short... you guys are gonna LOVE J-Critt.

he was one of the biggest steals of the draft. He outplayed farmar easily in this summer league

Within two years he will be at the level of a brandon roy/deron williams guard.



Marc gasol, who i am also very sad to see was the MVP of his league for over 2 months. He's going to be very good as well.

Although the lakers made out like bandits as of now, in a few years this trade wont look so bad.

Miami looked like it was at the better end of the shaq deal, and now, it is clearly apparent that shaq wasnt worth it.

I dont think pau will end up like shaq did, but within time youll realize that the deal wasnt that bad, you got capspace, A VERY GOOD guard, who was ranked as a better prospect than conley coming out of highschool.

yeah, they got one championship

that they didnt even earn. the mavs choked, and the heat had the refs on their side. The heat are now one of the worst teams in the league, and shaq looks terrible out there.


The lakers trade at the time was terrible, and now, is decent. you forgot to mention that the lkaers also aquired a draft pick that went on to be used on jordan farmar.

The deal was essentially odom, grant (terrible to absorb but time constraints forced it), caron butler, and jordan farmar.

If the lakers didnt make the mistake of trading butler, that would have been an amazing deal. Odom, butler and farmar.

This is not a sympathy thread. At the beginning of the season I asked who you'd rather trade Gasol for, Butler or Bynum? That thread was locked because people think it was outrageous. But looking back, it would have been a genius move for you to trade Gasol for Bynum(you probably won't believe me, but I was one of the few, maybe the only Lakers fan that wouldn't have made that trade, from the Lakers perspective).

While I don't see the same potential, I do see starter, if not even All-Star potential in JC. Heck, we'd easily give you Farmar in place of him if we could. If he works really hard, this trade won't be as lopsided as you think.

Someone also pointed out the Shaq trade. Often times, you have to wait to see how trades like these work out(a lot though, depends on the work ethic of the young players you're getting back)

Shaq quickly went from MDE to 14 and 8. Those still arent bad, but he's only gonna get worse.

Let us remember that although the lakers SUCKEd that season after, they picked up andrew bynum from that draft.

In essence the loss of shaq, and its negative effects on our record paid off greatly.

Last time I checked, a championship means you were the best team in the league that year. Something the Lakers haven't been since they dealt Shaq for Caron and crap, then proceded to deal Caron for crap.

trust me...crittenton can ball. this kid is super quick, his handles are amazing, and can get to the rim easy.

Imo, the biggest piece in this trade is the expiring. Critt will not be a special player in the league and maybe not even a starter IMO.

he has short arms, doesn't have a great jumper or body control when going to the hoop.. he is athletic, but not off the charts, and his handle is average.

not starting pg or sg material. i think he can be a good backup guard b/c he seems to try and get people involved and has ok lateral movement, he also will be able to post opposing backup points, so thats a plus.
