So back to the question then. What's the price on Miller, do ya think? Would expiring contacts and picks be enough?

I'm pretty sure that expirings would fit into the scenario. At least if the Grizz are to trade Miller, they can get back a decent player or two out of the deal. It just depends on how the deal comes out on paper.

How about this sort of offer?

Mavs want Miller and your leftover backup PG (presumably Lowry).

Mavs will trade 2 #1s, and a couple of young players with very cheap contracts (PG Berea, expiring, and SG Ager, 1 year left at 1M) that you may or may not want to keep longterm - and will fill up the rest of that trade with stuff that expires in April.

If you want, Mavs will also trade you Jason Terry for Cardinal.

We won't do the Terry-Cardinal deal unless it's part of the other deal, and it doesn't have to be included if you don't want it to be. (The thinking is that would be a big positive, to get rid of Cardinal for a productive player.)

Would that work?

No way the Mavs would do a JT for Card trade. They blow their drinks out laughing at the deal. Also, the Grizz don't need anymore PGs, and SGs. The trade you posted above would cause a logjam in the Grizz backcourt as is.

Understood on the Terry-Cardinal aspect. Didn't know if that would be viewed as a plus or a minus for you, because there's no question Cardinal gives you nothing and you'd love to get rid of his deal.

But on the other part ....

You didn't really follow it, I guess. So let me ask again.

You end up with 2 #1 picks and you don't have to keep any player if you don't want. They'd all expire in April but one, and he is only on a 1M contract for 1 year. So there's no logjam at all. You wash out that salary, get a fresh start, and get some picks.
