another salry dump or was a nuscianence (sp?) and a trouble maker to the team? Especially since they got Jason Collins in return.

if the options are a and b, and one of them is impossible, since collins is not an expiring, therefore...

The money is about the same. Swift is a problem for the team, while Collins is a good locker room guy. Like it or not this trade is actually pretty smart.
Trade a guy you outright despise for a pretty simplistic backup center.

Stromile, I don't think, was happy given that his minutes this season are a career low. he still has not had a real shot at a major role with a team, and he should be entering the prime of his career.
I think he's been frustrated by how the season has gone...

It makes sense for the Grizz, they figure to have a high lottery pick this year and a young team for the forseeable future getting rid of anyone who could have a bad influence on their young players is a smart move.

Yeah, it's like Netsforce said. With a rebuild, there needs to be a good positive attitude along with the developing of the young players. I think that's why it's debatable on whether Miller stays or not. I'd like to see him go somewhere to contribute while still young himself.

I agree, Stro did not seem to be happy with his role on the team and he might be showing that up. Collins might help Grizz on the short-term and having only people that believes on the project is the only way to rebuild a team. Locker room cancers are able to destroy a project by influencing new talented players.

the Grizz moved a disgruntled player and got cash as well....Padding Heisley's pockets.

I think this is a totally crazy move for the Grizzlies.....we are trying to be an uptempo team, and we get rid of one of our most athletic players for a stick in the mud player....i know i know..it was a locker room move..but it makes absolutely no sense at all

But isn't swift known as a cancer? I can see getting rid of him.
But not sure I like Collins in return - he's a bit of a stiff.

Yup. They get a professional in return, at the same position; a guy who might actually help teach and mentor the youngsters. I imagine they only got enough cash in return to make up for the difference (pro-rated) in what they'll pay Jason Collins for the rest of the season as opposed to what they would have payed Stromile Swift (probably about $150-175,000 or so.
They probably didn't gross any money on the deal, but probably just swapped a highly disgruntled player for a team player.
Not a bad deal.

The only way this deal makes sense is if we use Collins as an expiring next season for talent. If this was done looking towards 09, then we should have just bought Stro out. Would have been cheaper. This deal made no sense what so ever.

Sorry, not trying to troll..but we meet each other tonight so I thought I'd check up on y'all. There was some talk on our board about a CV for Swift trade....Seem to be at the same fork in their careers....CV younger (I believe, to lazy to check), but would that be better than what you got?

Good trade for Memphis to get Stro off the team. I don't think he's been good for any team he's played for thus far and now Memphis has added a more team ordinated player.

because the Grizz enters total rebuild mode...
they rather want total useless materials for a future than unproven talents.
not to be offensive but want to bring out the message
