All Mike Miller Trades: Post Here

Post#1 » by Number1Starter » Tue Feb 5, 2008 12:49 am

I'm not exactly a Memphis fan, but I like to see teams start to acquire and develop young talent. Obviously, with the Gasol deal, Memphis is going into a pretty steep "rebuilding" mode. Rudy Gay, Conley, Crittenton, Lowry (maybe), and 1st round picks make for an exciting future. Actually, in my opinion, having Rudy Gay and Mike Conley in 2-3 years down the road will be one of the best tandems in the league. (Tony Parker and a rich man's Andre Iguodala?) However, this leaves you guys now trying to clean house and get as many draft picks and cap room as possible. Though Mike Miller is a hell of a player, many people see him out in Memphis. What do you think is a fair value for Mike Miller considering Memphis's interest in ending contracts, draft picks, and young contributors?

I'm a Cavs fan and I can't think of a better place for MM to be than Cleveland. The Cavs don't exactly have many big expiring contracts or premier young talents (well...Lebron :D ). They have Ira Newble coming off the books this season as well as Shannon Brown. I only ask to see if this is would be a remote possibility because of some assets that the Cavs have for a great player in Mike Miller. Maybe something like this?

Mike Miller for Ira Newble (expiring), Sasha Pavlovic (injured now but has shown enough flashes to draw his own comparisons to MM), Cedric Simmons (young big that needs a chance to play), and an 08 first.

I think MEM needs a couple of experienced players. Having only young prospects, even if they're very good and can have certain importance on current game is not a way to success. I don't feel Mike as a major problem in Memphis now, at least until we can see what happen with Navarro next season.

I like this deal for MEM, esp with the cap room.

I do like the idea of Pavlovic. I thought about him when I first heard about interest from fans in Cleveland.

Well we'd definately prefer to trade Shannon Brown instead of Simmons, but its a go either way.

After the Gasol trade, I think expirings alone could probably net Miller - which is really sad IMO - we should at least get some asset in return, even if it's a 2nd. If that's the case, then Cleveland can obviously be outbidded.

Mike Miller trade question from a nuggets fan.......what do you guys think about Kleiza and Najera for Miller? You get cheap young talent in Kleiza who's coming into his own, and is signed at dirty cheap price through next year I believe, and Najera who expires at the end of this year...and is having a great year. If not those two...who off the nugs roster would be realistic?

Shouldnt the nuggets be looking into getting defensive help and a point guard?

How about Shannon Brown or ced and ira newble(cash or trade exception) and a 2009 first rounder?

That way the grizz save money and get two first round picks for the next three drafts?

Spurs boards are full with speculations about Miller.
in the first place, because the Spurs do have the expiring contracts and because the Spurs obviously need some help (and youth) to keep pace with Mavs and Suns (and now maybe also the Lakers).
Miller would be a great fit, he is almost exactly what Barry is, but of course taller, younger and better. so even considering his lack of defense, he would be great there.
the question is, what the Spurs are willing to add as a teaser to the expiring contracts. (likley Barry plus Elson). their picks are almways in the 20+ area, so not very attractive. Splitter's rights should be more valuable than where he was picked. Grizzlies were interested in Udoka last summer. he didn't play that much at the deep Spurs roster, but has seen significant minutes in the last weeks and looked very good, especially on defense. so or so, he is a bargain at this price (1 million this year, 1.1 million next season).
Mahinmi is still very raw, but has shown some promising developement in the D-league. (7th in PPG/48 minutes, 7th in efficiancy, 1st in FG%)

as a Spurs fan, I would love a deal like Miller (plus trow-in, maybe Jacobson) for Barry, Elson, Mahinmi plus 1st round pick.
not that I didn't see some other very interesting players on the Grizzlies roster (Navarro, Lowry, maybe Warrick), but I want to be realistic, that it will take most of the Spurs assets to get Miller.

I would much rather trade Mike to Cleveland and to the East. Certainly not to the Spurs. If we're going to send him out West, then I like the Nuggets deal (Kleiza/Najera) much better than anything the Spurs could offer.

If the spurs offer you

Brent Barry/Jacque Vaughn/Ian M/Tiago Splitter

for Mike Miller /Juan Carlos

That's as good as it gets!

id figure that the ceiling of the spurs offer would be barry+elson+ian+1st. and even then they are hesitant. considering what gasol went for, is it really going to take expirings plus two 1sts to net miller? id probably pay that price, but id have concerns with it.

also, id figure that splitter wont be on the table in nearly any discussions.
