Can someone explain attendance???

Post#1 » by grizzleGM » Wed Feb 6, 2008 4:45 am

The official attendance listed for the Bucks game was 10,749.

How in the world was that figured??? There was NO ONE upstairs, the middle section was at least 95% empty and the sides of the court were no more than 40% full. I sat on one of the ends behind the basket and there were a whopping 24 people sitting on the entire 4 sections of the lower bowl!

There is no possible way that there was 10,749 people in the Forum tonight even if you count all employees, players and coaches.

My best guess was 3,500 (by the third quarter) and my wife laughed at me, and thought there was no way that the number was anywhere close to that. At tip-off there were only about 275 people (I counted, but lost count of people coming and going) on the opposite of the benches.

I saw the game on League Pass to catch Kwame playing and I thought it was crazy how an NBA game could have so little people watching.

Memphis was hit by some violent weather today. Given the reason for tonight's game attendance.

On a another note. The way they take attendance is based on the tickets that are scanned by the ticket scanners when they enter the forum.

I'd like to add more, but that sums it up.

Just to update, for my own stupidity, the 'official attendance' is based solely on number of tickets sold.

^^ I just found that out myself from listening to the radio. In the case of the Grizz attendance. Just b/c tickets were sold doesn't neccessarily mean that that same amount will be at those home games.
