Pacers trade with Memphis?
What are your guys' thoughts on the trade rumor on sports illustrated? Mike miller for Diogu and Daniels? Would you guys trade Kyle Lowry for Stephen Graham or Andrew Owens?
What do you guys think of Mike Miller and Kyle Lowry?
Thanks

This was probably floated so another team could up the ante. I do find it ironic that the deal that could net the Grizzlies the best pieces will be for Mike Miller and not Pau Gasol.
The deal with Denver would be much better for the Grizz. Jr Smith, Najera, and Kleiza. If you plug Kleiza in at the power forward and resign JR Smith you are not inclined to spend cap space and could possibly wait a year. Your lineup in 08 would be:
Conley
JR Smith
Gay
Kleiza
Darko
The lineup is very inexpensive, young, and giving a max deal to Rudy in a few years is not harmful. The future would definetly look bright.
Hence if we are looking for a clear sign that the CAP room will not be spent, is if like the proposed Indiana deal we receive a defensive or athletic wing and young power foward with potential. The move would be sold as let wait and see what this group can do and the 09 crop is much better. That's my two cents.

Daniels doesn't suck, not sure where you got that from. I think Diogu would be the main piece anyway. There are probably better offers than this though. Then again, there were better offers for Gasol too.chrbal wrote:Marquis Daniels sucks. Ike Diogu is not worth giving up Miller to get Daniels. Memphis should get more. Unless Daniels is just a layover in Memphis, this trade would be horrible.

Let's see:
1. The Gasol trade is basically for K.Brown a 10 mil expiring.
2. The Shaq trade is basically for Marion a max contract expiring.
3. The Bibby trade is for multible players that add up to 8 mil expiring.
There seems to be a pattern here.
Indy offers 8 mil but none of them are expiring and none of the players offered are exceptional.
Not likely to be accepted.
Anyone who looks at any trade made and can't see the value of an expiring contract doesn't understand the current NBA.

except none of those offers had the amount of expiring salary and future assets the lakers did. and neither does this pacers offer. zero chance this goes down unless the pacers parts are shipped to a 3rd team.

Diogu is still on a rookie contract so he's low risk. have to think my Pacers would want one of your three young point guards though. if we did the Miller deal, we could play Diener, Miller, Dunleavy, Foster, and Murphy together. what's wrong with that picture?

Still it's a stupid deal for Memphis not so much talent wise but this is why:
The key for the Grizzlies has to be cap room and this helps to a small degree. If I'm Memphis I make a three way deal like this:
Lakers- Odom to Washington
Wizards- Jamison to Memphis
Grizzlies- Miller, Milicic, and Warrick to Los Angeles

Maybe he doesn't suck but, Kareem Rush and Marquis Daniels are both shooting guards....Daniels has started 1 game, Rush 10. Rush was out of the league last year, Daniels not so much.
Memphis trades Miller they shouldn't trade for the lesser of Kareem Rush and Marquis Daniels with a weak rebounding 6'8" pf as the "sweetner" of the trade.
