What would your dream draft be? We have 2 picks barring trades and this is a very deep draft. So who you got?

Well durr - all depends on position I guess...

If we end up with the 1st pick, I'd love to see the Grizz take Beasley (of course) and with the second pick Brandon Rush or Chris Douglas Roberts possibly...

Say they stay where they are; 3 and 27.
Big at 3 (Lopez, Jordan, Thabeet), at 27 just about anything except PG. Try Brandon Rush, they always say 3rd times a charm (Jaron Rush never made it to the NBA and Kareem is a journeyman).

Now naturally if they get 1, Beasely. 2, Rose and trade a PG or two.

Honestly, I would like to see us trade the following on draft day:

Trade ID #4551486

Miami Gets
Mike Miller
Darko Milicic
Mike Conley
2010 Lakers Pick
2010 #2 from MEM

Memphis Gets
Shawn Marion
Rodney Carney
Calvin Booth
Derrick Rose(drafted #1 or #2 by Miami)
Kevin Love(drafted by PHI #13)
Joey Dorsey(drafted by PHI #39)

Philadelphia Gets
Kyle Lowry
Hakim Warrick
2009 #2 from MEM

Draft

Brook Lopez at #3
CDR at #28

2008 Line-up

Rose, Crittendon
JCN, CDR
Gay, Carney, Cardinal
Marion, Love, Dorsey
Lopez, Collins

Yes, its a very PRO MEMPHIS lineup. But thats what the Grizz need to sell tickets. This is a lineup that can contend for the playoffs, and a perfect to to build on.

"Yes, its a very PRO MEMPHIS lineup. But thats what the Grizz need to sell tickets."

Wholly disagree. IMO that lineup wouldn't necessarily win. I've also never seen anything that would make me think that adding more former Tigers to the Grizzlies roster would sell tickets.

If Memphis has something other than the 1st or 2nd, which would be obvious selections, then with our pick I think Nicholas Batum is the way to go. With the pick we get from the Lakers I would be in favor of Serge Ibaka to fall in our lap. This would give us an athletic off the charts wing and a very athletic off the charts big. The important thing is we are not drafting players with defensive deffiencies.

Nicholas Batum 3rd - 6th

Serge Ibaka - 27 - 30 (he may not fall this far but if we are lucky he might)

Rose is a better and taller player than Conley. Hands down he is the better option.

Dorsey adds physical toughness to us in the middle. God knows we've begged for a banger. He's the best option.

CDR is a heads up player. He's 6'7" and can play the 2 or 3. He has a great shot selection and %. His slashing ability would make him and gay an awesome combo.

Carny is a scrub filler to get the #1 from Philly. Carney can back up Rudy if needed for 10mpg.

Getting Marion and the cap room in a year, really opens this team up for going forward. It also gives us only about $20 million in committed salaries for 2009. Roughly $40 million in cap room, depending on JCN's contract.

Rose, CDR, and Dorsey would actually not really be homer picks but great future players.

----------------------------------------------------

Maybe trade Conley for a pick around 7-10 and get DeAndre Jordan?

C-Jordan
PF-Warrick
SF-Gay
SG-Miller
PG-Rose

I'd like to see us trade the pick if it's not top 2.

Meaning if we don't get Rose or Beasley...trade it to Toronto for Bargnani. That will give us a project at PF.

Trade Miller and whatever other asset we need to to move up and draft Gallinari.

Two Italians (Gallinari/Bargnani), a soon to be star in Gay, a potential star in Conley.

Good base.

Draft Taj Gibson with the Lakers pick. He's gonna be a good solid player in the league.

I don't think Griffin will come out this year but if he does..of course we could take him at 3 if he's available.

Taking Beasley with our number 1 overall pick - what we did with the Lakers pick and/or draft day trades would then just be gravy.

Perfect scenario:

We get the number 1 overall pick, take Beasley. We trade Darko and Miller for expiring contracts and a 8-10 pick to take Thabeet. We trade Lowry and Cardinal for more expiring contracts and maybe a 2nd round pick. We bring Gasol over from Europe. We draft Tyler Smith with our pick via the Lakers and Stephon Curry with the aforementioned 2nd rounder. Now we have tons and tons of cap room, but we will undoubtedly have to overpay to get anyone in Memphis. Nonetheless, with Beasley in town and a good future prognosis, maybe we can trick someone into thinking that we may be headed up.

Lineup:
Conley/Crittenton
T. Smith or FA/JCN
Gay/T. Smith or FA
Beasley/Collins
Thabeet/Gasol

Now we have athletic players that can play some defense and run. Signing a premier FA to lock up SG would make this lineup a lot better, moving Tyler Smith to a backup roll at 2 or 3. Also, the 5 is a little shaky, but let's face it, we aren't any better off with Darko being lost down there than we would be with Thabeet and at least we know Thabeet can do two things well. I'm not convinced that Darko has any value at all. We have also addressed our main weakness (perimeter defense) in shoring up the 2 with an athletic rangy wing in Smith. Still, Conley has been a liability this season, but his upside is high so we can only hope that he makes a big improvement next year.

#1 Pick - Beasley
#2 Pick - Rose (trade Conley)
#3 thru #6 Pick - one of these guys:

Love
Randolph
Griffin
Gallinari

My preferred choice of those guys change on a whim, but right now I'm liking taking Gallinari......

Do not take Lopez, Jordan or Hibbert in any circumstance...

With the Lakers pick, I don't care, get the best SG/SF available....I have no preference right now (though I wouldn't complain if it was CDR).....

If the Grizz get the #1 pick. Get Derrick Rose and trade off Mike Conley. If they get #2, get Michael Beasley and trade Warrick off and see if another team is willing to deal off a late first or early second rounder for him.

As for the late first rounder from the Lakeshow. Here's a few the Grizz should look into.

my current update

1 - Rose (trade conley to highest bidder)
2 - Beasley
3 - Gallinari
4 - OJ Mayo
5 - A.Randolph
6 - E.Gordon
7 - Batum

a dude we should look at with the Lakers pick.....

earl clark (this dude reminds me of McDyess)

1. Rose, if and only if we can trade Conley for another top 5 pick(Speights) or established young big
2. Beasley...more than likely #1
3. Mayo
4. Speights
5. Randolph
6. Gordon
7. Jordan
8. Gallinari...he goes to 6 if he can project as a PF.

Late pick I want one of the 6'9ish PFs that should be available...Hansbrough, Jason Thompson, Richard Hendrix, JJ Hickson,Ryan Anderson, DJ White) or Bill Walker, Kyle Weaver, Tyler Smith, or Robin Lopez.

I am hoping we move up and get two players out of the lottery.

hard49......what about earl clark as that 6'9ish PF that should be available.....

during l'ville's tourney run, to me he seemed like the most NBA-like player on the court in every game they played.....

I think in the new NBA with zones and played at a faster pace, he could be as good as Julian Wright has been for New Orleans. I like him as a player if you use him at PF. He has to improve his shot. He is probably going to be what we were hoping Hak would be in Memphis. A hybrid F that does a little of everything.
