Trade for the #1 Pick?

Suppose you're the GM of MEM. The good news is that you got one of the Top 2 picks in the lottery. The bad news is that it's #2.

Kevin McHale phones from his fishing boat and says, "Hey, we're leaning towards taking Beasley, but we're bad enough everywhere that we could use Rose too.

Would you trade the #2, Laker's pick (#25) and Crittendon to move up?"

Do it?

Nah. I would be more than happy with Rose.

The question I have is would the Wolves take Beasley with the #1 considering they already have Jefferson.

Of course, I'd think we'd be interested in moving up - but at the right price. At this point, I don't think your trade is the right price for the Grizz.

You are posting it in the grizz board...we are not lucky, we would get the 5th to 8th pick....so if you say we are going to take the 2nd seed we dont need to trade.

And about crittenton, he is just about 19-20 years old. he is like a 6th to 8th seed in that draft right now, i think i would NOT move him. Maybe i said too much putting him in that spots in that draft but... Id say mchale to keep fishing....

Iam more concerned about who we land with the money of freeagents than the draft...

That would be the the trade you do if there is a player you have to have. Don't get me wrong I do believe that the right point guard would make our players a lot better because right now the Grizz do not get easy shots that a Derick Rose gets his teammates. The price is too high, plus it still has to work out financially and that trade would not.

I had no idea you valued Crittendon like that.

In the unlikely event this scenario happened, I suspect with this kind of valuation, MIN will just keep Beasley. I suspect though if they were followed by a team that really wanted Rose, their requests would be less.

If Beasley is no longer available at #2, its best to draft Rose and trade Conley. Portland will love to have Conley. Or Conley for Minny's '08 pick.

Of course there are players involve because you cannot just trade the rights to the pick for Conley unless Minny has some cap space, which they don

I would want beasely just because he would fit nicely at power forward for the grizz. But on the other hand, if we draft Rose, he could be great for the team because he played for memphis. If we take rose, I say package conely and lakers pick for another lottery pick and try to take Brooke Lopez.

I don't get why people are so quick to give up on rookies/Conley.

In the scenario that we draft Rose at #2, we're left with 3 fulltime and 2 parttime PGs. :-?
