Trade idea(s)...

Sorry for starting a new thread, but I didn't see a trade thread on either of the first two pages.
I wanted some feedback from Grizz fans, because I thought this was a logical and sensible swap for both the Kings and Grizzlies. Here goes:
Kings deal:
Shelden Williams
pick #46
Grizzlies deal:
Kyle Lowry
Why for the Kings: Kings currently have noone under contract at the PG position. Lowry would make a nice back-up PG to Beno(if re-signed) and provide a nice defensive presence off the bench to guard many of those quick 1's in the league.
Why for the Grizz: Removes the glut at the 1 spot found between Conley/Crittenten/JCN. Shelden also helps add some size and strength to the Grizzlies frontcourt. Grizzlies trade small for big.
In short, this deal balances each teams roster considerably.

There should be a sticky saying that JCN IS NOT a PG.
And that trade is horrible.

I wouldn't do it. I think Kyle has more value than that.

Since your title has an 's' in parentheses, would you care to try again?
The Grizz might be interested in the Kings #12 or Artest, but not Shelden.

Make a horrible (in our opinion) offer, and expect these kind of replies.
But honestly, yes - IMO Lowry has proven himself this season of having value equal to or greater than what the 12th pick of this seasons draft will yield.

I'd trade Lowry for Shelden and the 2nd rounder in a second. I think that's great value for Lowry.

Your idea of value and mine are at different ends of the spectrum then.

Well of course you view the offer as 'horrible' you think Lowry has LOTTO pick value, and he clearly doesn't. He's a nice back-up guard to spark a team off the bench.
For all of Shelden's deficiencies he still a big body that is a capable rebounder/defender. While he never should have been taken #5 overall, he's at least got the potential to be a good 3rd big off the bench and trading small for big(especially when you have Conley/Crittenten set at the 1) is NEVER a bad thing.
Lowry is better, but the 2nd round pick and the fact that Shelden is a big body pretty much narrows any talent gap between the two players.

So who was the 12th pick of the 07 draft and how did he fair?
Of the 06 draft?
Of the 05 draft?
Of the 04 draft?
Now, show me which one put up the numbers that Lowry did their first full season? Yeah, right...

Senseless, JCN is not a PG and lowry has the value of a 12th. thadeus young, amstrong korolev, R.swift, the last 12th picks in last drafts...
Yep, then lowry is more valuable than shelden who and #46.
Jacobsen and carinal are aviable...

Rose, Beasley, Bayless, Lopez, Gordon, Mayo, Jordan,
Randolph, Gallinari, Augustin, Westbrook, Love, Speights, Arthur, Greene, Batum, Hibbert
So you're telling me that Lowry has more value than the guys bolded. I mean sure one or two of those guys may bust, particularly Speights, Greene, Gallinari, Batum, Hibbert, but guys like Randolph, Augustin, Westbrook, Love, Arthur are all potentially going to be their at #12 and ripe for the taking. Let's take this to the PC board.

No... I was just stating what the Kings had that the Grizz would be interested in... and no the 12th pick in any draft is still a crap shoot.

" Randolph, Gallinari, Augustin, Westbrook, Love, Speights, Arthur, Greene, Batum, Hibbert"
Randolph won't fall to the 12th pick. The rest, well, in the seasons I quoted there was plenty of hype about the picks in the 11th - 14th slots as well. Many of those guys just don't pan out.
Lowry has panned out. Is he worth the 12th? I say probably, you don't - the thing about it is that a) we're just posting crap on a message board and b) nothing will happen in regards to the Kings and Grizz anyhow.
Oh, and thanks for quoting me

If that's the best you can pull for your sig, more power to you

i'm with grizzled grizz fan....
lowry's worth a mid 1st round pick.....he's proven himself better than his lower 20's pick, IMO.....
apart from derrick rose, there isn't a PG, smallish SG, that many NBA GM's would clearly want over Lowry.....
using the quoted examples, Augustine and Westbrook are AT BEST only as good as Lowry, IMO, if not probably worse prospects.....

and jordan is a great back-up to me
beno udrich X kyle lowry

If you spouted these types of phrases off on the general board, or baords with other fans that frequent them, I have a feeling they'd come off fairly homerish. Lowry is definitely a nice player, but he's a nice back-up off the bench type of player.
If he's worht a mid-first round pick I guess that means the Kings are overpaying with Shelden(a top 5 pick just 2 years ago) AND a 2nd rounder here

The difference between Williams and Lowry is that Kyle's panned out whereas Shelden hasn't. Second round picks are
generally worthless.
This is simply an agree to disagree situation that doesn't matter a hill of beans in reality
On a separate note - if the roles were reversed, would you think that Beno was worth the #12 pick?

the only PG in this draft better than Lowry is Derrick Rose.....

Gotta move Lowry. If you're going to go young, I wouldn't mind seeing the Grizz pick up a mid first rounder for him. They SHOULD be getting something in the 12-20 range. For some reason, I'd like to see CDR in a grizz uniform.
