This is a link to today's RGM article summarizing that the Grizz could break hearts in Tennessee if they happen to win Tuesday's lottery by obtaining the #1 pick in the draft. Personally, my disagreement to this article is on the possibility of breaking hearts. The majority of fans concensus here and other grizz boards are that if the Grizz win the #1 pick on Tuesday, Derrick Rose is an instant Grizzly come June.

BTW, Eyewitness News 24 Sports will interview GM Chris Wallace about the NBA lottery set to take place on Tuesday.

They are in a tough position because the obvious need is Beasley, not Rose.

That said they should still get Rose and with that money they have freed up down the line buy a big man in the free market. The chance to get a hometown guy at #1 who is a legit #1 doesn't come around very often.

They might not even get the opportunity this year. We'll have to see how the ball bounces.

This is the exact reason I'm desperately hoping for the SECOND pick. As close to a "no lose" situation as we can get. Rose goes first, then the Grizz get exactly what they've needed since they rolled into town. If Beasley goes first, then they get Rose and deal Conley for need.

I couldn't agree with you more. It would be a nicety to add Rose to the lineup but let's face it, if we were to get Beasley, it's not the end of the world and we already have 3 point guards in the line up. I think we could deal regardless for a big. But at the least, I hope to have Mayo on the team if we don't and the 1 or 2 pick.

I'm hoping for a trade.....hopefully for next year and maybe a separate transaction to acquire a middle first round pick for Brandon Rush.

jman... I'm with you. I think Brandon Rush is going to be the steal of the draft if his knee is not a problem. I think it may be 18 or 19 before he is selected.

Also I have stated before, I would love to see the Grizz acquire a couple of second rd picks and take a flyer at:
Sonny Weems 6'6"SG from Arkansas
Shan Foster 6'6" SG from Vanderbilt
Bill Walker 6'6" SG from Kansas St

edit: jman... I'm not with you on the trading out of the top 7 if that is what you meant.

Not since Cindy Crawford finished second in a Illinois beauty pagent have so many wanted to score the overall number two.

Concerning the Golden Nugget on the NBA draft:

No one ever says shame on the Houston Rockets for taking Hakeem Olajuwan #1 overall.

The criticism is on the Portland Trailblazers for taking Sam Bowie #2 overall instead of Michael Jordan.

The point is Michael Jordan is considered the best ever yet no arguement has been made for him being taken ahead of Hakeen just ahead of Bowie.
Who drafted for need instead of the best player as they had Clyde Drexler already on the roster. To not draft Rose because you have Conley would be that type of blunder.

To me, if the Grizz lose out on both Rose and Beasley, all is not lost provided the Grizz end up with OJ Mayo. His skillset and makeup reminds me a lot of MJ. I think he is an Assassin and a future superstar.

Here's the thing with the Portland blunder with Bowie over Jordan. Let's say the Blazers did take MJ over Bowie. What would happen to Clyde Drexler? If the Blazers had the nucleus to go all the way, would MJ led the Blazers to a championship or 6?

Clyde Drexler - 6'7" 210
Scottie Pippen - 6'7" 210

I'm sure Portland would have figured out a way for the Glide and MJ to coexist...

And yes, I think MJ would have put that Portland team over the top.

Actually the most important thing about Bowie is that he was BETTER than Jordan at the time. Injuries killed his career.

The same could be said 10 years from now if Oden is only able to play for a few years due to various injuries. All of the sudden Portland is dumb again for passing on a 'superstar' for a 'big man'. Why did they take Oden, when they could have had Durant???

The biggest test to the Jordan over Bowie but, not Olajuwan is to ask the folks in Houston if they were happy in hindsight with the pick.
