Lowry availible?

Post#1 » by RJ 24 » Sun Jun 29, 2008 6:41 pm

As a Nets fan, I was wondering if a Krstic for Lowry trade would be acceptable? Krstic would be S/T to you for Lowry. Lowry's deal would have to be worked out for CAP reasons. Krstic could come in and aid your front line. Low-risk High reward type player.

Krstic is a good player if he can stay healthy. This would be great for Memphis. The cap numbers don't work out at all. Memphis would have to throw in filler.

What type of contract do you think Krstic would be seeking?

Memphis could trade Lowry for part of the Nets TE. Then the Nets could just let the Grizz sign Krstic to an offer sheet and not match! It would be an interesting way to make a trade.

The Grizz lineup would then look like:
Conley/Jaric
Mayo/Critt/Buckner
Gay/(maybe Arthur would get some minutes here also?)
Krstic/Arthur/Warrick
MGasol/Milicic

Walker (bought out)

Krstic would be paid 2.5-3.0 million a year. That is why I said that Lowry's contract would have to be worked out. Warrick & Lowry for Krstic would be good. I would even do the TE idea that grizzleGM mentioned. The reason why I was interested in Lowry is because we have a spot missing at SF. I thought Lowry could come in and start at PG while Harris and VC move a spot down to SG and SF respectively.

I think somebody is going to offer Krstic more than $3.0M. He might even get a full MLE deal from somebody. He's a 24-year old big man with career averages of 17 points and 9 boards per 40 minutes. He's a pretty good man defender as well.

I doubt anyone offers him more than 3.0M. He is coming off of a serious injury and no one knows if he will ever bounce back. Krstic will likely accept the qualifying offer and stay with the Nets.

Yeah... I was guessing that he would command at least $5mil if not more per year.

He's certainly available, and the Grizz need to balance out the roster ... so why not?

As a MN fan, I'm shocked the Twolves didn't get a guard back in the Mayo trade. Right now Foye is the only PG on the roster and he's not even a true PG. McHale said he would have asked for a Griz guard, but he didn't want to "bog" down the deal again. Would you consider a S/T of Craig Smith for Lowry + filler. Smith is a young wide bodied low post scorer PF type who might compliment the slight Arthur at PF.

Same thing as above... Minny has a TE large enough for the Grizz to trade Lowry for the TE, then the Grizz can sign Smith outright and McHale doesn't match.

The Grizz could probably sign Smith for about $2.5mil first year???

I think the Grizz will end up with David Lee or Charlie V for Lowry or Crittendon.

charlie v....good possibility

lee? no way..

d'antoni told the phoenix front office and ownership that Rondo would never play a second for him b/c he can't shoot, so they sold him to boston for 3 million dollars.....

can lowry shoot? is d'antoni their coach?

I do like Krstic, but would be a little worried about his injury history. In my opinion, the Grizzlies could land Charlie Villanueva FOR Lowery, which I would much prefer. There is no doubt in my mind that Lowery will be the "odd man out" in Memphis. Critt has so much upside, and can also play both guard positions (backing up Conley Jr. at point and Mayo at shooting guard).

Hey people. Why you all want to trade Lowry that quick? You trust all that much in Conley? And what about Javaris, i dont think he is ready to play 20mins. cud u picture if we trade lowry and Conley is in the bench half of season because of the injuries? In the rookie season he had lots of problems with that. Id keep them in grizztown.

Well, we aren't going anywhere next season and, when healthy, Conley wasn't much of a downgrade from Lowry even during his rookie season. I don't see any reason to keep three pg's if we can get value for one at a position of need. Crit seems to be SG all the way.
