Okay... here's GS's situation. They can't go over the cap to sign Arenas...
So, right now both Beidrins and Ellis have max cap holds for Golden State.
If they offered Arenas a max deal, that would be starting at $17.44million.
Beidrins and Ellis would have to be signed before that deal could be tendered and they would both have to be signed for $13-14million together. This means most likely they will have to let one of them walk. The Grizz most likely would not be interested in Ellis now that they have Mayo.
Just thought that the monetary side of this is very interesting!

Re: Rumor: GS offers Arenas
A sign and trade involving Conley for Ellis (moving Mayo to the point) is a pipe dream, but it's the only scenario I see that would work.

That is not correct according to Question 30 of the FAQ CBA information. The cap holds, as of today, would be as follows:
$7,910,088 for Andris Biedrins (Larry Bird, following the fourth season of his rookie
scale contract and below average salary) and
$1,541,220 for Monta Ellis (Larry Bird, except when coming off rookie scale contract and below avaerage salary).
Remember that Monta was a 2nd round pick, and was signed with part of MLE, and therefore, not a "Rookie Scale Contract", so different rules apply to him than AB.
Of course, these cap hold amounts would go up immediately if and when they sign an offer sheet with another team, but as of now, the GSW are free to wheel and deal with Arenas without any impact to AB and Ellis.

No problem. You are normally "sitting pretty" on all thoughts CBA.

Re: Rumor: GS offers Arenas
Can the things get any better for the Grizz? We are really sitting in the cat birds seat. We can sit and do nothing and have a backcourt of Conley/Mayo or swoop in acquire Ellis if Arenas accepted their offer, thus having a backcourt of Mayo/Ellis.
Golden State could really be in a pickle as Monta only makes sense with a bigger guard next to him like Arenas or Davis so if the loose out on both do you pay him close to 10 million per while he may be limited in a different system after Nellie's last year. While he may not be a totally system guy he does need to play in a more open style of play to be truly effective. Secondly if Golden State does resign either Davis or Arenas, does it make sense to resign Monta and have your starting backcourt making close to 25 to 28 million? The future definetily does not look so bright as it did yesterday.
The Grizz are not out of the free agent mix totally as they just plan to do things differently. They are open to acquiring a restricted player on a sign and trade basis and thus still keeping a major portion of the CAP space.

I don't think the Grizz will do anything. I don't think Ellis makes sense in the Grizz backcourt with Mayo. I also don't think Arenas will leave Washington. Part of the reason that Wash re-signed Jamison was because Arenas pushed so hard for it to be done.

Ellis doesn't make sense; however, Biedrins would be a sweet deal! We could play small with him at center, or we could play HUGE with him at Power Forward!

Re: Rumor: GS offers Arenas
Wow... sounds like GS will be short a PG now!!!
Could the Grizz or Bulls see a trade with GS in their future?
Grizz possibilities:
Lowry, Darko
for
Wright, TPE
GS will have plenty of capspace just like the Grizz even after they re-sign Ellis and Biedrins for this deal to go through.

Sign me up for that deal! I would love to get Wright back to Tennessee. If we could land a potential stud like Wright, we would be as good of a young team as Portland!
