Synopsis on Iranian Guy

Watched him in a couple of matches with my national team Lebanon.
The best comparison of someone in the NBA would be diop but a bit less athletic, with better hands.
-Defensively on par with Diop.
-Doesn't rebound very well for his size
-Offensively he is not bad, can score good close to the basket.his back to the basket not very good.
-Very foul prone.
In another development, the Griz have identified Iranian center Hamed Ehadadi as a person of interest and hope to sign the 7-2, 23-year-old next week. Ehadadi last played for Saba Battery of the Iran Super League. He'll also play for the Iran national team in the Olympics.

I really can't say what the guy is capable of until I'm able to see him play on the court myself. Sounds like from your description of the guy. He's really no more than a 3rd rate center you can use on the floor to collect six fouls. Probably see what 3 to 6 minutes on the floor, if he's lucky.

Probabily he´ll take the minimum...it´s a nice deal to me...we only can win if we sign this guy.
My only concern is about how he´ll adapt to the cultural differences...

He´s really soft! And he must add some dunks in his game, some nastiness. But at least we´ll have two players that can make the half-court shot

Funny, b/c chris Herrington from the Flyer said that the Iranian center is the second coming of Cezary Trybanski.

He probably won't be able to adjust to the pace of the NBA game. But, he is effective at the Olympic level.

I saw him play for about two minutes in the summer league and thought to my self that he deserves a shot at playing in the NBA. I'm glad that an NBA team is giving him a shot.

He trained for a long time in the Bay area and if a Iranian can handle San Francisco he can handle Tennessee. He will likely be a career back up, and may even only pan out as well as Wang Zhi Zhi or Ha (he is a much better mid range shooter which is promising), but it isn't risky and he is huge.

This makes even more sense now that we hear Darko has hurt himself preparing for the olympics.

I think you have him confused with Jaber Rouzbahani. Ehadadi is a much better player. I saw Rouzbahani play in a minor league game and he was pretty bad. He struggled to score against players that were six inches shorter than him.

I couldn't disagree more with the Diop comparison, they are two completely different players. Offensively, Haddadi is incredibly skilled for a 7 footer with an all around game and range well into 3 point territory. The only thing currently holding him back from being a legitimate NBA presence is his poor conditioning, along with the necessary adjustment to the NBA game. Internationally, he has been dominating his competition recently, most recently against Serbia's NBA center Kosta Perovic, where he had 20 points, 20 boards, and 6 blocks. We will see what he's capable of in the next few days against top competition.
My NBA comparison would be a poor man's Dirk Nowitzki due to their very similar game and physique.
More info on him here as well:

^Haha. That was a funny post.
Ehadadi has the height but he is very slow for the NBA pace. We won't know for sure if it's because of conditioning or he's naturally slow, which can not be developed. He is one of the best in Asia, yes. But there are only two centers in Asia, him and Yao Ming and the difference of quality is as big as the margin of the population of Iran and China.
Good risk? All because of height yes. Trybanski indeed! (Tsakalides actually had skills)

thats just stupid.i mean cmon it's not his fault iran's president is crazy and the regime is like it is. he just wants to play ball.
i think racist is the correct word. that statue basically lumps together all iranians and calls all iranian nationals potential terrorists

That policy saves your ass on a regular basis.

Theres something you Grizzlies fans should know about persians. Theres prolly not a very high population of persians in Memphis so you may not know how how crazy the Iranians are. They DO NOT want people leaving Iran. Ever since they started coming to the US, particularly Southern California, where I'm from, they have been doing the craziest things to keep people from leaving. If they found out that a citizen left, they will find their family and murder them. Even if Ehadadi is allowed to come play for the Grizzlies his family may need high security or possibly move to the US also. If he is allowed to play for the Grizzlies, but its not working out to well, there may be some serious problems.
