Memphis/Phx?Trade
Im a Suns fan and I wanted you grizz fans thoughts on this trade with us.
Mem Trade:Gay,Conley,Milicic,Warrick
Phx Trade:Stoudamire,Barnes
I think its a fair trade you guys get a guy who could be the main option and he would pair up with Mayo and they could become the bestscoring duo in the league.Amare did average 27ppg last year before the Shaq trade.I think your uptempo style offense fits Amare and Barnes and you would have 3 players you could build around.(Stoudamire,Mayo,Gasol)
pg:Lowry
sg:Mayo
sf:Barnes
pf:Stoudemire
c:Gasol
Stoudamire and Mayo would be a lethal scoring punch for years to come.

Re: Memphis/Phx?Trade
Swap out Buckner for Darko and I'd call that a deal. Not that Darko's a deal breaker by any means, but I'd personally prefer to see him stay with the Grizz. Also note that Buckner's deal is essentially expiring ($1 million buyout) - so this may be more appealing to Phoenix as well.
The last caveat to the deal would be an assurance/extension with Amare that would guarantee seeing him stay in Memphis for at least the duration of his current deal.

Stoudamire would resign if you offer him a maax deal,he wants to be a superstar and he doesn't want to be second fittle to anyone so in Memphis he would be the go to guy.

Well if he would re-sign with Memphis because he wants to be the go-to guy, then why wouldn't the Grizz just wait until 2010 to sign him in free agency? Then they wouldn't have to give up Gay and Conley, and we would have an insane Big 3 in Mayo, Stoudemire, and Gay. Like I said before, the only thing that would make a trade for Stoudemire sexy to the Grizzlies would be if he got an extension before he was traded, so they could have their franchise big man locked up long-term.
If he won't sign an extension with the Suns, then trade will never be plausible, and then Memphis can just go after him in free agency. I'm not saying that he would automatically sign with the Grizz, but I don't think that getting a player to sign with Memphis would be as impossible as some people say, as long as we offer the most money.

Something like this might be better for both teams:

But I really don't see Griz owner taking on all-star salary.

Make it Lopez instead of Dudley and I'd have to consider it. Losing Darko puts us way to thin at the 5.

Re: Memphis/Phx?Trade
If Amar'e ends up in Memphis, it will be because Memphis can save them enough money in the deal THIS YEAR to get them under the lux tax threshold.
The deal would most likely be:
Conley, Buckner, Hak, 2009 1st (#1 protected)
for
Amar'e
This would put Phoenix just under $70 million for this year and save them roughly $11million this year. This is why I think the Grizz have the most realistic shot of landing Amar'e.
If the Grizz are fortunate enough for this to happen, I would like to see the Grizz make the following offers in the offseason:
1) Sign Ramon Sessions 4 years 28.34mil starting at $6.5mil
2) Sign Matt Barnes 4 years 26.16mil starting at $6mil
This would leave the Grizz lineup looking like this and the Grizz would be about 3.5mil under the cap still, I would like to see them re-sign Miles for the veteran's minimum.
PG - Sessions, Lowry
SG - Mayo, Jaric
SF - Gay, Barnes
PF - Amare, Miles, Arthur
C - Gasol2.0, Darko
That is a playoff lineup! Even one I think Amare would consider re-signing with.

Re: Memphis/Phx?Trade
I read this morning where the Suns owner contacted Memphis to see if they could get involved as a "third" team to help facilitate a trade. I read that to mean they want Memphis to help with salary matchups and absorb a little since they are well under the cap.
The question is how much salary would Heisley take on to secure a first round pick from a team? It couldn't be from the Suns since OKC has theirs this year. I guess it would depend on how high in the rankings the team was. Portland? I don't think so. Chicago? They are still in the lotto range aren't they? I might help out to get that pick.

I'm so freakin' sick of the Grizz "facilitating" trades for other teams. I hope this isn't the case.

Re: Memphis/Phx?Trade
MY guess is below for a three way trade between the Griz, Bulls, and Phoenix.
Chicago Trades:
Hinrich, Thomas, Gooden, 09 1st, $3mil cash
Chicago Receives:
Amare, Q.Ross, Buckner
Phoenix Trades:
Amare
Phoenix Receives:
Hinrich, 09 1st CHI
Memphis Trades:
QRoss, Buckner
Memphis Receives:
Thomas, Gooden, $3mil Cash
Cap numbers after the trade.
Chicago - $65,959,370
Phoenix - $70,691,703
Memphis- $58,018,562
Chicago stays under the Lux Tax and Phoenix gets under the Lux Tax threshold. Memphis comes out of it with enough cash to pay Gooden's salary and Thomas is the price for the deal to happen.

Re: Memphis/Phx?Trade
Are we talking Tyrus Thomas? For Ross and Buckner? Just because Memphis takes on Goodens expiring contract but gets $3mil cash back?
Sign me up for that one but I don't see it being that easy to get a player like that. I was thinking more along the lines of Memphis getting the Bulls first round pick for taking on whatever extra contract is needed for Phoenix and Chicago to make a deal work. I think Gooden could go to Phoenix as part of a deal if you believe the talk of the Suns owner wanting to shed salary and get under the luxury tax in any Stoudemire deals.

Re: Memphis/Phx?Trade
Gay + Conley + Hak (plus whatever else Sarver was asking for) is too much for Amare
As much as I'd love to see him in Beale St. Blue, the Grizz just could over pay that much.
Deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeepressin'.

I don't think the Grizz are willing to make a play for Amare, but will end up with a very nice piece by being hte only team that can facilitate a three way that includes Phoenix getting under the lux tax threshold. Beasley or Thomas are my two picks as possibles.

Re: Memphis/Phx?Trade
RealGM is saying you guys aren't trading for Amare, rather you guys are trying to get a 3 way deal that send Amare to Miami and Beasley to Memphis.
Beasley and Mayo is a very solid tandem to build around for years to come.

Re: Memphis/Phx?Trade
If the Grizzlies could get Beasley and still keep their pick this year that's amazing as long as they don't give up Mayo, Gay, or Gasol in the process. Conley could be replaced with one of the highly touted pointguards coming out of this years draft. Warrick, Arthur, or Milicic( I don't imagine he would factor in since he has a substantial contract) are replaceable, plus they would shore up their power forward position with Beasley.
Basically it speeds up their development by a season, and it takes out of Wallace's hands the need to sign a big cost free agent. Stay young(and cheap), plus be far enough under the league minimum to have to sign some lesser free agents with character and leadership that would accept role positions with the team behind the young core.
It almost sounds too good to be true in my opinion. But as a Sonics fan I watched as GM Sam Presti managed to wiggle 3 first round picks by way of taking on Kurt Thomas then trading him away again last year. Anythings possible I suppose. Right now money is a huge factor within the leagues ownership, or so it seems from the many stories. Even Mark Cuban just said this season could be a nuclear winter moneywise around the league.
Could Michael Heisleys desire to save money by staying under the cap finally end up a big advantage?
