Rookie/Sophmore Game

http://www.nba.com/2009/allstar2009/01/ ... index.html

KD goes for 46pts and he sets a record for most pts scored in a rookie/sophmore game.

"After the flurry was over with the momentum on their side, about the only way the Rookies had a chance of winning the game was if their coach Kurt Rambis sent Marc Gasol out to clothesline Durant and take him out of the game the way Kevin McHale did to Rambis back in his playing days.

Earlier in the afternoon Memphis' O.J. Mayo, a leading candidate for Rookie of the Year, said that he hopes that himself and the rest of the excellent guards in his Draft class (Westbrook, the Clippers' Eric Gordon, and the Bulls' No. 1 pick, Derrick Rose) get a chance to play in the real All-Star Game on Sunday some day."

OJ Mayo scored 12pts in his rookie game. I don't have the stats on Marc Gasol for this game.

For tonight's dunk competition, I'm willing to say D-12 wins it again. I'm looking to see what with Fernandez, Robinson, and Smith will do in the contest. I wish that Rudy was able to participate in the event.

The Slam Dunk Championship gets boring every year...

Nate Robinson dunks over D-12 and wins the contest. I'll give Nate some props, but I like last year's with D-12 doing the Superman.

Rudy was clearly the winner yesterday. Shame on NBA and bad for us, cause he was the only one thrown in some new moves...

What hurt Fernandez was on one of his attempts where it took a couple of times for him to get his dunk down right. Unfortunately that cost his chances. JR Smith stated this will be his last time in the dunk contest stating his legs are too old to keep doing all the numerous dunk attempts.

Yeah, but this is a non-sense...what counts is the dunk. In 2006 Nate took 15 attempts. This year D12 took more than 2 minutes in the 12 foot dunk. And what about the first D12 dunk? that dunk deserved a 35...

It was a case of a warmup. I wish he saved that second dunk for his final dunk. At least he would've up his chances of being a repeat dunk champ. Overall, this year's dunk competition wasn't a big thrill as it was from the past.
