The Heat are prowling for a point guard. The two names I've heard the most are Raymond Felton and Kyle Lowry. The Heat are offering Daequan Cook, according to a source.

I don't really understand why the Heat would make a deal like this, as Lowry is not an upgrade over Chalmers. They do need a backup PG, but I wouldn't expect them to be willing to part with Cook just to get one.

Cook would be a great addition to this team because he is a great shooter, which we desperately need. If all we had to give up was Lowry, we that deal would be a steal for the Grizz. However, we would probably have to include a 2nd round pick to get Cook. What do you guys think?

If Lowry were to be traded, that would man Jaric would be playin the PG spot. He hasn't played much this season with the Grizz. Also if Cook were to comeback what will it mean for Ross and Buckner? Especially Ross.

Jaric played point guard in Minnesota. I don't think he is a natural point guard, but he can handle 10-15 minutes at the point, which is all he will be required to do if we traded Lowry.

Greg Buckner? He is gone next year regardless, so it doesn't matter. Plus, getting him off the floor this year would be a huge plus. Also, as of right now, Ross isn't in our long-term plans either, because he is only on a 1-year contract. He will also most likely be gone next year.

Cook would easily fit into the 3-YP, and he would greatly help O.J. out as early as this season because he would open things up with his great shooting ability. He is a big upgrade over Ross and Buckner.

Yeah, I would make this deal. Although I prefer to have a rugged sixth man as primary backup to Mayo and Gay, having a really good shooting specialist is a need as well. I must admit I don't know alot about the rest of Cooks game and should be more informed before I say I agree or not but I think I would do this trade.

But since seeing what the Hornets just did I might be more inclined to talk to them about a Buckner for Posey deal if they want to shed salary.

I have to admit that since reading all the rumors without much mention of the Grizzlies it's a little dissapointing, especially since they have plenty of leverage because of their team salary being so low and opportunities abound to take advantage the economic meltdown that looks like it's happening around the league which could fetch them something good unexpectedly.

But I won't be surprised if they don't do anything. They have pretty much been steadfast throughout this season in giving the young players plenty of playing time to develop and I can see them taking this to the end of this season and simply adding a high draft pick and continuing next season the same manner.

Hey guys. Heat fan here. Just wanted to give you guys the update on the Cook/Lowry talk.

Pat Riley wrote:That’s b.s.. We’re not doing any talking about Daequan, but there are a lot of teams asking about him.

Don't believe what Chad Ford says. Riley, himself, called the idea b.s.. You won't find a stronger denial than that. He also said that acquiring a point guard is not a necessity and that he doesn't want to give up too much right now. He clearly feels Daequan is too much.
