According to the Chris Vernon Show, the Grizzlies have traded a second round pick to the Lakers for center Chris Mihm and cash considerations.

Basically a financial cap move to get the Grizzlies further under the cap.

Might as well be. All we need is an tax accountant for a mascot and we're in business.

No need. Stan Meadows has it covered.
I think this deal was just to make money like the Livingston and Francis deal. It's doesn't help our cap space this offseason.

I don't have a problem with these sort of deals. What I do have a problem with is if at the end of the day these are the ONLY trades and it sends the message that making a few dollars with trades is more important than improving the team with trades.
The optics of it would really turn me off if I were a basketball fan living in Memphis.

I'm afraid you'll need to prepare for disappointment then.

I won't be dissapointed. I live in Vancouver, and when the Grizzlies left I became a Seattle fan. Now that the Sonics have left(can you believe I've had two teams ripped away now?) I'm kind of a free agent fan and have no big allegience to any one team(especially not OKC). I've really just paid more attention to the Grizzlies because I kind of like an underdog that needs alot of work.
Until Lionell Hollins returned I don't think there was a single person left from their years in Vancouver so there's no attachment. I've been around this site since 2001 and it's always been more fun to try and figure out ways to make poor teams better than try and figure out what is the best move for teams that are already good.
And yes, I agree that we probably won't see any significant trades. I said way back at the beginning of the season that I expected a year of evaluation and go into this years draft to add another one or two inexpensive rookie pieces, sign a free agent or two for role purposes, and go from there. I haven't seen any indications that they will sway from that.
Now watch tomorrow they'll pull off a blockbuster after I posted this.

It would be good hear the Grizz involve in a blockbuster where they win out.
