Elliott Perry was awesome to watch and a local hero. He was the best player I saw as a kid until Anfernee Hardaway came around.
I think we can get back on track tonight with it being Friday night game at home. I'd like to see Shaq too. I've been tripping on this all week:
http://blacksportsonline.com/index/2009/04/shaq.html He's a character.
I had higher expectations for Goran this season. Luckily Barbosa stepped up. But he's definitely not 100% yet right now.Why is Robin so much less effective than Brook? It must be mental.
An interesting matchup besides Shaq will be Louis Amundsen. He is emerging as one of the dirtiest players in the league already. His diminutive presence on the floor puts him at a large disadvantage against real centers like Marc Gasol. To make up for it he plays with dirty and illegal moves and tries to turn the game into a boxing match to break his greater opponent's emotional balance. I'd like to see him punished tonight.

Amare/pick for Conley/Gay/pick this summer. Assuming MEM doesn't get the #1 pick. This trade needs to be revisited as it benefits both teams. PHX is rebuilding and this probably puts MEM in the playoffs next year.

Funny you mention that. They just reported that grizzlies coach was furious about that possible trade and would not accept it under any circumstances. It would be suicide for us to trade . You guys should have offered him to us for PAU. Heh
Ronald Tillery of the Memphis Commercial Appeal: "Hakim Warrick remembered exactly where he was when news of a potential blockbuster trade first broke. The Grizzlies' forward stood in a local T.G.I. Friday's when he heard other customers yell that he'd been traded. Of course, Griz brass was only talking to the Phoenix Suns about possibly acquiring all-star forward Amare Stoudemire. The deal reportedly needed Warrick, Rudy Gay, Mike Conley and a first-round draft pick to get done. Memphis eventually said no thanks after some internal debate. That was in February, leading up to the NBA's trade deadline. Today, the potential parties involved are relieved. 'I went and looked (at salaries) to make sure they could even do that,' Warrick said. 'I thought it was a lot to give up.' That was Griz coach Lionel Hollins' sentiment exactly. He adamantly fought against the three-for-one transaction that the Suns boldly proposed. ... 'It was crazy,' Warrick said. 'I mean, you look at a team like Portland. It's a young team that's been together for a while. They've shown what patience can do. I definitely feel like this organization is going in the right direction. It would be nice to keep this core group together.'"

PHX was asking for too much in the original deal. In my suggestion I dropped Warrick and added our 14th pick. Suicide? How is adding an All Star offensive power to your frontcourt suicide. Amare would be perfect next to Marc. You guys draft Lawson with our pick and you have Lawson/Mayo/Arthur/Amare/Gasol and probably make the playoffs this coming year.

Where van was coming from is from Amare's angle. What if the trade went down, but Amare expresses that he doesn't fell the idea of resigning wit hthe Grizzlies when his contract runs out. The the trade would turn out to be a rental than a permanent solution.

I guess we will find that out over the summer b/c Sarver loves Rudy Gay and I'm sure he will try and make a push for him again. Removing Conley and Gay still leaves a nice core to grow with. A 1/2 punch of Mayo and Amare would be pretty solid. Amare would bring the experience factor your team is missing right now.

Well whoever thought the Grizz would ever get past 22 wins for a change. It was against the Suns as they played without a purpose after being officially eliminated from playoff contention after the Mavericks recent win against the Jazz early this week. Rudy Gay and OJ Mayo combined for 40 of the Grizz points while Darrell Arthur and Hakim Warrick combined for 20rebs in the win for the Grizzlies. Jason Richardson and Lousi Amundson had 13pts a piece in the loss for the Suns.

....Or one can hold out the tremendous hope that David Stern forgets his glasses in the restroom thus being unable to see which envelope he marked in order to ensure a stud like blake griffin doesnt end up in the media hell that is Memphis giving the Grizz the #1 overall by mistake resulting in a starting line up of Conley, Mayo, Gay, Griffin and Gasol and plenty of cap space to burn on reliable back ups which ends with many saying "Amar'e who?"...
