Grizzlies eying Stephen Curry?

After drafting point guards who can't shoot (Kyle Lowry in 2006 and Mike Conley Jr. in 2007), the Grizzlies are looking at drafting one who can. They're high on Stephen Curry as a potential point guard and could get him if they land the No. 6 pick, as projected. He's the best shooter in the draft, even if his lack of size and quickness has raised some concerns.

I'm not sure how credible this source is, as the writer obviously doesn't quite know of Hollins' over-infatuation of Conley but if this is true and Memphis does take him at 6-9, I think it would definately be reaching, but he would be a great super-scoring 6th man in the Leandro Barbosa mold, a guy that a lot of posters on this board, including myself, want Memphis to go after this summer.

But I don't think there is any way in hell Memphis drafts Curry to replace Conley with Hollins coaching, contrary to what this article states, so I would like to hear from a source that actually has connections to the Grizzlies that they are interested in drafting Curry to replace Conley at PG.

I actually like the idea of Curry next to Mayo, as Curry's lack of true PG ability would allow Mayo to play a lot of point, something I have wanted to see ever since Memphis drafted him, and all Curry would have to do is do what he does best- shoot.

There would be some big problems defensively, however, which is why I would rather Memphis take Evans or DeRozan and move Mayo to PG if they are looking to go in that direction (which I seriously doubt). I love Curry as a 6th man, but I am lukewarm to the idea of him starting because of his defensive deficiencies. Thoughts?

Like most stories, it's just one reporters view and unless you see someone from management or the coaching staff go on record with a quote then I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

I hope not for this kid's sake. I think he would be better than JJ Redick when he gets into the league.

The marketing possibilities between Mayo and Curry could be epic, but not worth it.

Smokescreen!

Don't believe everything you read and hear...my gullible and naive friend. :D

There is a lot of rumors, posturing, and straight up lies going on from here until draft day.

Beware and proceed with caution...from here on out.

This story was posted prior to the Grizz drawing the second pick. Old news, no longer relevant.

Well, if the Grizz really do want Curry, how do you guys feel about this trade:

Knicks trade:
David Lee
Stephen Curry (8th pick)
Cuttino Mobley's contract (expiring deal that can be used as trade bait)

Grizz trade:
Ricky Rubio

Now this could just be the premise. I'm sure the Knicks can take back a contract or something else in the deal. The Knicks could also throw in another player, future picks, ect.

Please don't bite my head off though, I'm just a Knick fan trying to explore trade options for our struggling team.

No head biting - but I'd think it would be a no. Reason being, if Lee were to come to Memphis, it would have to be with an extension or an agreement to an extension. The Grizz have so much cap space that they could make a run at signing Lee and keep Rubio. No (likely) need for the trade. Additionally, I don't think Mobley's contract fits the Grizz's needs at all.

Just don't see that deal happening at all.
