Trade with Golden State
Hi guys, congrats on the 2 pick. Lucky devils.
Whats the situation with Conley now? Are you guys sold on him being your 1 for the future or would you rather have the kid Rubio take the riegns???????????????
GS fans are enamoured with the idea of Rubio in the bay. Well, some of us are anyway, lol. Would the fans be interested in a deal with GS for the 2nd pick??
Something like:
GS Sends: Brandon Wright, Kellena Azubuike, #7
Mem Sends: Marco Jaric, #2.
You guys get a PF yet to hit his straps and a scoring wing, + you would have the 7 to use on a young guy.
We get Rubio and Adriana Lima.

Simple answer - no.
If you're interested in Conley, maybe there's something that could be done, but the 2's not being moved in that manner.

It's going to take a lot more than Buike and Wright to entice Memphis to move down 5 spots in a weak draft. Don't quit you're day job anytime soon. lol

Re: Trade with Golden State
I don't think there's anyone on your team we'd trade #2 for. Not sure if you realize we have finished at the bottom of the league 3 years in a row now and been shafted our of Greg Oden, Durant, Al Horford, Derrick Rose, Beasly and OJ Mayo.
We had to trade one of the greatest Grizzlies of alltime and the last huge fan favorite, Mike Miller, to get a decent player from last year's draft.
I don't think we're going to be quick to toss back the #2 pick for ANYONE on the GSW team.

I can't understand that, but it's still not a given Rubio even wants to come to Memphis.

I put up an idea on the trade board:
Brandan Wright, Jamal Crawford
for
Mike Conley, Marko Jaric, #35
What do you guys think?

Re: Trade with Golden State
having granted a big contract with the 2nd pick... Rubio should want to come here. it makes no sense he wants to stay in Spain, if not, why dont to wait next year to join to the draft?

More viable than the proposed Rubio for Wright and 7th pick deal, but still, I wouldn't do it. If I'm Memphis, I try to package Conley for Anthony Randolph. Wright, however, probably isn't the answer.

Anthony Randolph to GSW is like Mayo to Memphis. Conley isn't that good.

Anthony Randolph to GS is like Jesus to Christians - Warriors wouldn't send him for #2.
However I think there could be some play in that pick. Lord help you if you take Thabeet at that spot - if you do you deserve to be in the lottery for all of eternity. Even if you trade down and get Thabeet +, that's going to look like the Clips and Olowokandi in a couple years.
Is Conley the guy? If so you can get a lot by moving #2. And if Rubio is the guy, then Conley's out, but you're not going to get a lot in trade there.
As a GS fan, my aim is to get Rubio at #2 with Monta being the main piece going out. You guys know Monta - explosive player, just 23 years old. Local angle. 20 points, 4-5 boards, 4 assists. Very efficient - +16 EFF, and a 50% shooter from the field. Still working on his 3 ball range but his midrange is deadly. Doesn't have ideal size but he's among the fastest players in the League, a one-man fast break. Borderline PG skills with the ball. Not a great all around defender but a ball hawk, having been among the League leaders in steals. Still has upside, and is fully recovered from his ankle injury - he looked even better to end this season than he did in 2007-2008. He's paid at $11 mil per, which is a fair contract for a player of his ability, skill level, and performance.
I think Rubio will be a very good player obviously, or I would never want Monta on the table. But as you know there are no guarantees - there is always the possibility that he is the next Marko Jaric, and Memphis eliminates that risk by dealing him for a proven commodity.
Leaving aside the homer glasses for a moment (which I think I've done by sweeping away some of the low bids and putting Monta on the table), what do you think the front office might do if Larry Riley calls and puts Monta on the table? I truly think that approximates a good trade on both sides, but of course there's some room for negotiation - Warriors could throw in for example the #7, or take back a bad contract. But please don't start with the "we need Randolph, Monta, #7 and a future first business"... those fan-centric one-sided fantasy trades have no place in reality. Better yet to say there is no case in which we trade Rubio, we're sold on him as our starter for a long, long time.

Re: Trade with Golden State
Monta's been discussed plenty on this board and other Grizz forums. Two things rule him out - moped + Mayo. Secondly, if Randolph is to GSW fans as Jesus is to Christians, call me an agnostic. I wouldn't trade the 2nd for Randolph.
Here's to hoping the Grizz follow through and draft Ricky and move Conley.

I would do Conley + #27 for Wright + #7
Rubio is off the table.

Heck.. I wouldn't even do a swap between conley and Bwright. Bwright has a lot to prove and Conley is too short to pair along Monta. How about a ..
Bwright, Monta, Crawford, Maggette for Rubio plus a filler?
