Mavs/Grizz/Heat

Post#1 » by from_ro_to_dirk » Sat May 23, 2009 9:38 pm

Hi, i proposed this on the Mavs board last night. I'm doing this to acquire your #2 pick.

Mavs trade: JHoward, Stackhouse
Mavs get: Rubio, Darko, Jaric, Buckner

Griz trade: Rubio, Gay
Griz get: JHo, Stack, Beasley

Heat trade: Beasley
Heat get: Gay (maybe some 2nd rounders or Mavs #22)

Of course picks and fillers can be thrown in to make teams happy.

Griz:
Gasol
Beasely
JHo
Mayo
Conley

nice young team with some young bench. I dont see you guys being able to sign big time free agents but you could keep your own. Howard is your oldest player here and he's around 27 or 28.

Heat:
J. O'Neal
Haslem
Gay
Wade
Chalmers

they can still try to get Bosh in 2010 and add him to Gay/Wade/Chalmers

Mavs:
discussed on the Mavs board, more deals would have to follow.

What do you guys think? I'm doing this deal as if the Mavs believe Rubio could be a stud. But of course he could be a huge bust. Basically for Memphis, you are giving up the uncertainty of the Number 2 and Gay for a young future star in Beasely and an All Star entering his prime in Howard. and if you dont watch the Mavs then don't come on here saying Howard sucks, etc. cuz believe me the guy is damn good. He is just the only piece that can be traded to get this sort draft pick.

Oh yeah, one more thing. Stackhouse can be bought out for $ 2million but he will count as $7 million in cap savings. If Cuban throws in $3 mill for the trade, you guys actually wind up with an instant savings of $8 million by cutting Stackhouse. I'd prefer the Mavs get back Warrick rather than Buckner, that could be something that is haggled over.

Value-wise it's not too bad for the Grizz, but I think Miami would want more.

No way the Heat does that trade. Beasley has much better potential than Gay and could get more value for him.

If anyone knows Riley (as a GM) he's definately not stupid.

If Miami would agree to this, Memphis cuts Dallas out of this, deals Gay for Beasly, and then moves Conley for a SF somewhere like Thornton.

if you want Thornton you'll have to take Baron Davis.

A deal featuring Gay for Beasley is a deal I have been pining for Memphis to make ever since the deadline. There was a rumor of a three team deal that had Amare Stoudemire going to Miami, Gay to Phoenix, and Beasley to Memphis, but talks ended when Miami acquired Jermaine O'Neil. I would love for a deal like that to be brought up again, and I think it's possible, especially now that O'Neil hasn't proved his worth in Miami.

Keep dreaming Grizz fans. That can only happen in your sleep. Include the #2 and you may have something there.

I think the original deal is fine. Josh Howard had nagging injuries off and on all season long. If he gets healthy I think he's as valueable, if not more than as Gay since he plays better defense and rebounds. Beasley would be a very good power forward for years in Memphis. Put those two between Gasol and with Conley and Mayo hitting their stride I like it. It would take a strong coach to keep this group focussed on team play but the dynamics would be something to see with the swagger this group would have. This combination might be a little too volatile though.

But George Karl has got the same type of players on the same page so who knows. I guess the difference is that they're more experienced and mature with a leader in Billups and Anthony.

Miami's not doing this deal for a couple of reasons.

1. Beasley is cheaper longterm and Miami's trying to make sure they have cap space for 2k10. Gay would require a new contract.

2. I honestly don't like Gay's game.

3. If the Heat trade Beasley, it wont be for a prospect, it will be for a polished NBA product who can help the team contend. Riley doesn't generally trade for prospects, he moves them for all-stars...

Tell that to the Dallas fan that proposed this trade.
