Not a bad suggestion - very good value for Memphis IMO. However, Portland would balk and there's an official trade thread up top to cut down on new topics like this.

Portland never does this. LMA > Rubio. This just destroys one position to help the other, and every good GM knows to never do that unless you are atleast shoring up the position your destroying with an okay player, not having to start a bum like Frye. Portland hangs up in less than 3 seconds. I think something like this would work much better if say Portland somehow received Marvin Williams + 27th from Memphis + A future first from Memphis as well. Also, the Hawks would rather trade Josh Smith, and I'm pretty sure Smith fits much better in your run & gun offense, therefore this works much better for you guys.

So basically, #2, #27, 35th & Warrick for Smith + Outlaw + Rodriguez
Port - Outlaw + LMA for 2nd, 27th, 35th, Warrick, Marvin Williams
Atlanta - Smith + Williams for LMA

Memphis is left with:
Conley/Rodriguez/Jaric
Mayo/Bucker/Jaric
Gay/Outlaw/Bucker
Smith/Arthur/Outlaw
Gasol/Milicic/Hadadi

Portland: (Draft Rubio/Hansbrough/Danny Green)
Rubio/Blake/Bayless
Roy/Rudy/Green
Batum/Williams/Rudy
Williams/Warrick/Hansbrough
Oden/Pryz/Frye

Atlanta:
Bibby/Law
Johnson/Flip
Evans/?
LMA/?
Horford/Zaza

sd - you reasonably stated your position, then plowed ahead and presented as bad, if not worse IMO, scenario.

Fail.

To OP: We (portland) aren't going to run with Frye at PF in Portland. We couldn't run with him for short stints, what makes you think we'd trade him without any decent replacement at PF? Now I must admit, I'm intrigued by Rubio, but this doesn't work for Portland, and quite honesty, I don't see how it works for Memphis either.

ok let me make one more attempt at this.

Portland: out Travis Outlaw, and # 24 pick
In Mike Conley

Memphis: out Mike Conley and # 2 Pick and Hakim Warrick
in Horford and 24 pick and Travis Outlaw

Atlanta: out Horford
in # 2 pick and Hakim Warrick.

If you don't like this see if you can tweek it and make it better for all teams.. but I believe this is fair all the way around. New line ups

Portland

PG Mike Conley, Steve Blake or Sergio Rodriguez trade one keep one.
SG Brandon Roy Rudy Fernandez
SF Nicolas Batum
PF LaMarcus Aldridge Channing Frye
C Greg Oden Joel Przybilla

Memphis

PG #24 pick Jrue Holiday or Patrick Mills Marko Jaric
SG O.J. Mayo Greg Buckner
SF Rudy Gay Quinton Ross
PF Al Horford Darrell Arthur
C Marc Gasol Darko Milicic

Atlanta

PG Mike Bibby 19th pick Ty Lawson or Eric Maynor
SG Joe Johnson Flip Murray
SF Marvin Williams Maurice Evans
PF Josh Smith Hakim Warrick
C Zaza Pachulia #2 pick Thabeet

all three teams would get a free agent or two to fill out the team and help with the rookies.

For ex: Atlanta would then sign Johan Petro and Charlie Villanueva
Memphis would sign someone like Keith Bogans and Anthony Carter
Portland would sign someone like Matt Barnes or Jamario Moon
Keep Mike Bibby

Memphis never does that last suggestion. They aren't trading Conley AND Rubio, one of them will be here next year.

Return to Memphis Grizzlies
