Re-doing the 2008 NBA Draft

Post#1 » by xxSnEaKyPxx » Tue Jun 9, 2009 6:28 pm

I thought it would be fun to go around and see what teams would do differently after watching everyone for a season - for instance, the Wolves chose to draft Lopez instead of trading the pick to ya'll. What would the Grizzles do with the 5th pick?

1. Bulls - Rose
2. Heat - Beasley
3. Wolves - Lopez
4. Thunder - Westbrook

Wow - get to keep Mayo and Miller? Sign me up. Love had a nice rookie year and there's no doubt the Grizz need a 4, but you just can't turn down Mayo. I'm highly suspect of the Wolves taking Lopez at 4 (although the fan votes point to it) - almost as much as the Heat taking Beasley.

This is a no brainer.

Mayo in a heartbeat.

I understand Lopez at #3, hes a good fit next to Al Jefferson, and a legit Center - not many of those around. I was shocked that the Heat still went with Beasley though.

Dgrange. To be fair, I think we voted for the love trade first if you consider the trade not just the prospect. if it is just the prospect then we chose lopez over love. But we would rather have the Love+trade than anything else.

The poll had Lopez more than the trade.

Because you did not give the option of obtaining Lopez in a trade. I doubt we take him straight up.

I gave the option of the trade, it would depend if you think Lopez would have made it to #5 or not. If you wanted the trade, they shoulda voted for it.

If there was a redo of draft,Miami trades the #2 to either OKC or Memphis and picks up their late First, drafts Lopez and Chambers.
If the trade was w/OKC,Memphis still does the trade as they'd be afraid Miami would take Mayo if Minn passed.
If trade was w/Memphis,Memphis takes Beasley,Minn takes Love,OKC takes Westbrook,Miami takes Lopez.
In either scenario the draft diverges wildly from history after the 5th pick as no way NY takes Gallinari. NY takes one of the SGs-Gordon or Lee in scenario 1,Mayo in scenario 2.
Clips take Gordon/Lee(1) or Westbrook(2)
Milwaukee goes for a PF-prob Speights.
Charlotte still goes for Augustine.
NJ goes for Ryan Anderson.
Indy,Sac,Portland prob still the same.(Altho Indy prob takes Gordon/Lee if available over Rush.)
As much as Nelson might want Gallinari, his back scares him off,and they prob still take Randolph.
Pho might go w/DeAndre Jordan, but prob settles for Robin Lopez.
From there who knows.
2nd Rd guys Mbah a Moute,Weaver,Douglas-Roberts prob move into First Rd and someone will draft Morrow.

This is an easy one for Grizz fans IMO. While Mayo/Gordon is debatable, I think almost all Grizz will go with who they know better.
