Mem / Bos / Clips Draft day trade!

What do you think Grizz fans?

Boston:

Chris Kamen
Mike Conley
Zach Randolph
#2 pick 2009

LA Clippers:

Ray Allen
Marco Jaric

Memphis:

Rajon Rondo
Kendrick Perkins
Tony Allen

Boston brings on salary but a lot of depth and talent.
Clippers drop salary. Clears way for new franchise player. Brings in some class.
Memphis brings in two young proven players. No lottery bust. Clears salary.

I guess the Grizz could sign Glen Davis too and bring in another ring ;) - It's a bit far fetched IMO, but it looks a lot better than the Grizz drafting Thabeet.

You'd need to swindle a deal involving KG and PP for that there championship my friend.

I like this deal, my colleges do not. Will have to see what happens next week. I think it's safe to say something will happen though.

Nah - I just meant in regards to bringing in someone else that already has a ring.

WHY in the HELL would any of these teams outside of boston do this trade? You trade the LEAST two important players of your championship team for two of last years clippers starters, memphis's starting PG and the second pick. DAMN I know they took a hit on the gasol trade but it was to progress in the future not continue to get robbed every year afterwards.

Your use of a word for an educational institution in the place of what you meant here answers my questions for your opening post. The word for today kids is " COLLEAGUES".

Since it was a Celtics(I assume) fan posting this I don't feel bad commenting favorably about it since it favors Memphis. Back when we still had the Sonics I went on record saying Seattle should draft Kenrick Perkins. Instead they took Robert Swift. Big mistake. Aside from his shoulder injury Perkins has been a force for Boston inside and it's that hardnosed defense that has transformed them into a highend team.

Rajon Rondo running the Grizzlies under Lionel Hollins and being the backcourt partner for OJ Mayo looks very good, better than Mike Conley. Rondo is coming into his prime years.

Tony Allen was a player I used to really like. His toughness and defense was very good. That string of knee injuries set him way back and I'm not sure he will ever get back to the level he once was. But he's one of those veterans that can help the young Grizzlies.

If Memphis got these three for the #2, Conley, and Jaric, and added Glen Davis as their power forward through free agency then they get four players that have made it to the highest level and know what it takes to win. And none are over the hill. They also know how to play their roles around the stars like Garnett, Pierce, and Ray Allen so joining up with Mayo and Gay shouldn't be a problem.

My only problem is how Perkins and Gasol co-exist if they also got another power forward. But you can never have too much depth.

Clippers wouldn't want Ray Allen to stunt Eric Gordon's growth.

Let's be clear......Ray Allen in this trade is mainly for financial reasons. He just happens to be a class act. Eric Gordon is a good young player, but if you think he couldn't gain anything from Ray Allen on your team for a year while Gordon comes off the bench your just not thinking it through.

Nice post Downtown. I agree that one of the question marks in this trade is the Perkins/Gasol interaction with each other on the basketball court.

I didn't find your trade to be quite fair so I adjusted it to add some balance. New additions in bold:

Celtics>Breathing wrote:What do you think Grizz fans?

Boston:

Chris Kamen
Mike Conley
Zach Randolph
#2 pick 2009
O.J. Mayo
2011 unprotected 1st
2013 unprotected 1st

LA Clippers:

Ray Allen
Marco Jaric

Memphis:

Gabe Pruitt
Patrick O'Bryant
Tony Allen

Maybe, just maybe then does Boston do this deal. Not to be critical but I just didn't feel your initial deal gave enough to Boston for what they were giving up.

I didn't realize posting a trade on another teams board was a big deal. I thought it was a fair trade, and just wanted some feedback. Good or bad, but not sarcastic. I thought for Memphis this was a good trade, but maybe not. Rondo, Mayo, Gay, Gasol, Perkins lineup would have a lot of potential. You also would get rid of Jaric's contract. One of my questions would be if Gasol, and Perkins could play together?

If you're a day over 13 I'll be absolutely shocked...and saddened for the failure of whatever educational institution is responsible for you.

It's a bad offer. The #2 pick is used for an upgrade from Conley to Rubio (losing Conley in the process as well) and Perkins. This does nothing to address the gaping hole at PF and also adds a player (Rondo) who will be up for an extension shortly. The Clips have absolutely no use for Ray.
