Right now the Grizz need a backup point guard to current starter Mike Conley. Either the Grizz will look at FA or through trade scenarios. Here's a list of potential PGs for the Grizz to consider.
Mike Bibby
Eddie House
Anthony Carter
Janerro Pargo
Andre Miller
Brevin Knight
Jarrett Jack
Nate Robinson
Steve Blake

I think the most realistic - considering what the Grizz are looking for - is Brevin Knight, but I'd like to see Jack or Blake (but he might "challenge" Conley for the starting spot, so who knows).

What has been said publicly by the organization regarding the type of backup point guard for Conley is such a huge disservice to the guy. Basically he can't excel unless he doesn't feel threatened. What does it say that Kyle Lowry felt he should be starting over this guy and had to be moved? I would not expect anything too decent and broken down Brevin Knight makes the most sense.
If Conley is going to be a beast and not a mental midget than we could go out and acquire someone that is not a major drop off like Shannon Brown or Marquis Daniels. While both are not true point guards I favor these hybrid type players who can also play off the ball as I don't think we have addressed our backup two guard spot adequately with an unmotivated Quentin Richardson who also has a balky back.

Centers are tough like steel - we must challenge them Marc = Draft Thabeet
Point Guards are dainty flowers - they must shine alone Mike = Trade Lowry
WTF Bizzaro world does the Grizzlies FO work on?

Steve Blake would be ideal.
I'd be fine with Jannero Pargo or Brevin Knight though (complete opposites oddly enough).

Knight can help the Grizz in the assist department and some vet experience. Plus his fam lives here in Memphis. Steve Blake is a good option to keep in mind. Will Portland be willing to give him up?

I dont think blake is leaving portland now that sergio is gone....
Id like fot that team a PG who doesnt need to shot a lot. Andre miller or Brevin knight fit us.

With all due respect, that seems to be what you're inferring instead of fact. What has the organization said that 'basically' asserts that Conley is afraid of competition? A young player needs to get into a rhythm to excel. Yes, he improved with the franchise's confidence, and a new coach..that's what usually happens, especially with pgs. He got more comfortable with NBA basketball, he is a better player now, maybe you have seen/heard enough in two short years to assume that he would revert back to stage fright in the event that they bring someone in, but I 'm sure Conley is well aware of NBA competition.

You guys signed Marcus Williams to your SL team--don't count him out. he is 6-3 215 and 23 years old. He started his career out pretty good in NJ than got hurt and was traded to GS but not wanted by the coach. I think you might be surprised by him if he comes in solid shape and hes cheap.

You have a source on that Briggs? Not that I doubt you at all - Grizz fans have been waiting on the summer league roster and I still haven't seen it anywhere in print yet.

I'm inclined to believe Briggs. He was right on the money early on with his so called inside information that Memphis was drafting Thabeet. I remember back when Williams was drafted. There were some really high hoped for him. I kind of lost track once he went to Golden State and got buried there. Where did he play last year?

I think there's a chance you could probably get Steve Blake or Martell Webster from Portland just for cap space, depending on the trades they decide to do. They are looking for a PG and/or SF upgrade right now and will need to weed down soon.

Lakers will trade you Jordan Farmar (6'1/180 ring intact) tomorrow for a 1.95m TPE.
He's very solid, but not a triangle point. He's more of an uptempo and pick n roll type... of which work great except those opportunities in an LA game are about 10%, 90% of which it's Fisher running the break or Kobe the p n r.
Much much cheaper than most of the other options plus two years of finals experience is nice backing up Conley, and he has a QO so you have 3 choices, let it play out as an expiring RFA, extend, or expire.
?

I´d do it in a second, Farmar would be ok with playing of the bench and his contract is a plus for us, we can take a gamble for 1 year, or 2 or let him walk if it doesn´t work out.

I think we need a gunner in the mold of the old Bobby Jackson with size and capable of hitting the 3. My list would be :
Charlie Bell
Steve Blake
Anthony Morrow
Jordan Farmar
Eddie House

I brought up Farmar because LA is still needing a bit more wiggle room to get Odom signed and that would be a good win-win for both teams I think, space for LA and backup for Memphis.

You can get Chris Quinn from Miami for an exception

How reliable is Quinn on the court?

will get you in to offense, low turnovers, reliable 3 point shot, subpar defender. Won't really push an established starter for minutes.

I'm surprised he didn't get into the strting lineup in Miami before Chalmers was drafted last summer if he that good as you put it.
