small celtics trade?
The Celtics are looking at being way over the cap and the Griz are looking at being under and also in need of back up guards. One option I could see would be for the Celtics to basically give away a player or two to the Griz. Tony Allen and Gabe Pruitt seem like the most realistic choices. Both are young cheap and only one for 1 year. Would the Griz be interested in one or both? The trade could be for a future second with lots of protection on it so the Celtics never get the pick.

I think this has been proposed already by another Celtics poster and the answer was no thanks. The Grizzlies are at 13 players unless they renounce both Warrick and Buckner and they can find a backup pointguard through free agency and be done with the roster. The consensus was this does nothing for Memphis.
I will say that I do like Tony Allen, at least the Tony Allen that could play before he kept blowing out his knee.

I think there are several situations where Portland might be willing to give up someone like Martell Webster pretty much for just cap space. That might be a steal.

While I'm curious to see what Caroll and Young can do, obviously a good sixth man shooting guard/small forward would give a big boost from the bench. We've run through a number of combo players that might be available at not too big of a cost. But my feeling is that the Grizzlies are looking for a backup pointguard and will cal it an offseason when they do rather than keep exploring ways to get better this offseason. A really good combo guard may be the answer.
I suppose getting Pruitt and Allen kind of kills two birds with one stone although I don't see it as anything significant, which is the reason us posters are on this site, to try and figure out ways of getting the best players to respective teams, not think in a practical manner.
