With the new cap numbers out there, here's where the Grizz stand at the moment. I've noted most of the exceptions and other scenarios. If you see anything I missed, please post it.

Current Cap Figure $48,298,455 million (including 2009 picks)

Marko Jaric $7,100,000
Hasheem Thabeet $4,458,840
OJ Mayo $4,165,560

For some reason I thought the #2 pick gets paid more than that but I haven't checked so you're probably right. All in all it looks pretty comfortable for Hesiley, even if the cap does decrease into the low $50mil area as reported. I think they will be looking for a cheap backup pointguard or combo guard, perhaps buyout Buckner, and call it a day.

Thabeet will likely be paid 120% of that number. From Shamsports:

This is the rookie salary scale for the 2009/10 NBA season. The players drafted in the first round have to be signed to within 80% to 120% of the salaries listed above. That rule is inflexible. In practice, it is almost always 120%, with but the rarest of exceptions. See this long winded thing for more details.

But until he's signed, that's the cap hold number. So in regards to where the Grizz are "right now", that's the number used.

Hopefully, the Grizz will waive Buckner - and I just don't see Grizz retaining Hak for anything other than the QO.

I just can't see the Grizz working with Hak on anything other than a sign and trade unless they move Darrell Arthur? Hak is not a 3 and you already have Randolph, Carroll, and Arthur at the 4 and there may be some instances where you play Gasol and Thabeet together. While HAK is instance offense who does he still minutes from?

I've been watching the Andrea Bargnani press conference announcing his contract extention. One thing Bryan Colangelo said was that in this financial climate he feels teams aren't going to give out alot of money to non core free agents and that he thinks he can wait players out this summer and get a few good players at bargain prices. He didn't offer Joey Graham the qualifying offer of $3.5mil and my guess is that it was the right move and Colangelo could re-sign him for far less than that.

Wallace should renounce Warrick at the $3mil qualifying offer and I bet he could re-sign Warrick for less than that. Dark-child, I think Sam Young plays the 4 as well even though he's only 6'6". My only concern with Young is the same as a former Raptor, PJ Tucker. He was a very good player in that he could rebound and was physical and aggressive. But he was only 6'5" and played like a power forward and wasn't able to play small forward. He faded away rather quickly. I hope Young can handle small forward.

There is no salary scale for second rounders, and nor do they have a cap hold until they are signed.

If the league approves the four way trade (I don't see why not), looks like the salary cap status has to be updated:

Minus Buckner ($4,018,518 for 09/10)
Add Stackhouse ($7,250,000 for 09/10, but counts as $2,000,000 against the cap if waived before August something)
Add Douby ($855,189 for 09/10)

Understatement of the year! LOL - yeah. I'll clean it all up after today's moves become "official". I've also heard, but yet to confirm, that Douby's deal is not guaranteed if he's waived prior to the end of camp.

Also, FWIW, this deal is the reason that the Z'Bo deal hasn't been completed yet. Once this trade call is finalized with the league office, the Clippers and Grizz will make their call.

It is sad to see Zach getting 17 and jaric 7.

When are we supposed to do the new contract to gay?

Nevermind, it seems you guys don't have to worry about Douby being on your team.

The official trade seems like you minus Buckner, add Stackhouse, and add future 2nd round pick from Toronto. Douby had some sort of trade restriction that didn't expire yet, so you don't end up getting him.

Better for you, I guess.

Why don't you keep two of these? One that is live and one that is projected.

Current Grizz cap number: $49,487,641
Current Cap room: $8,212,359

I would really like to see the Grizz sign Big Baby Davis or even do a S&T with Boston. Warrick S&T for BBD S&T. This would allow enough flexibility to also sign AI to a $5mil contract.

The Grizz could spend all $8mil and still have enough cap room for the Randolph trade after ETO on Stackhouse and renouncing Warrick.

Q Richardson $9,352,500
Marko Jaric $7,100,000
OJ Mayo $4,165,560
Mike Conley $3,883,800
Hasheem Thabeet $3,715,700*
Marc Gasol $3,240,000
Rudy Gay $3,280,996
Hakim Warrick $3,021,838**
Jerry Stackhouse $7,250,000****
Hamed Haddadi $1,627,779
Darrell Arthur $1,050,480
Damare Carroll $841,400*
Sam Young $457,588***
Juan Carlos Navarro $500,000**

*Will be signed for 120% of that number, but this is the current hold
**Extended Qualifying offer
***09-10 minimum for a rookie, this is the current hold
****Will change to $2,000,000 once all players have finish physicals and clear waivers(7days)

How is Navarro's QO $500K? That is less than the minimum salary for a 2nd year player($736,420)

The only info that I could come up with for JCN was "around $500 k". Keep in mind that a cap hold does not necessarily = what the minimum salary or actual contract would end up being. I'll do some more digging and see if I can come up with an exact figure.

I just can't imagine that a cap hold would be less than what he would have to make as a minimum.

OK - the 09/10 vet minimum for one year of service is $736,420 - that would be probably the best number to use as the QO for JCN.

Updated to reflect Warrick being renounced.

Warrick wasn't renounced, he just had his QO rescinded. Sam Young does not have a cap hold.

Navarro's QO is for $911,420.
