So what happens to Marc Gasol now?

I thought he really matured and became better as the season progressed, obviously by drafting thabeet and trading for Zach "im a locker room cancer" randolph his mins will decrease significantly this season. If you were the coach how would you distribute the minutes?

well, three players for two positions (not to mention warrick, arthur and haddadi, our six bigs.)
thabeet and randolph might be the starters. at the beggining of the seasson the minutes would go:
PF: Randolph 27/ gasol 6/ arthur-warrick15
C: Thabeet 30/ gasol18
The combo gasol&thabeet could be great on D. They wouldnt allow offensive boards and a couple of great blockers in there. so i guess we could give more minutes to that combo as time goes by.

Thabeet's not seeing the floor 30 minutes a night if he continues to stink up the joint like he did in summer league. I see more of the reverse, Gasol with 30 a night and Thabeet with 12-18. Thabust has proven himself to be a project player with a long way to go.

Zbo is a PF, and Thabeet is RAW. Marc is still the main C for the Grizz IMO. I'd say he gets 30 mpg easily - especially in the first half of the season if Thabeet ends up being foul prone

I am really concerned that sticking Thabeet on the bench he will be content and not strive to be the starter or show any improvement as time goes on. It may be necessary to start him to get the most out of him and live with the mistakes he makes. Marc Gasol will not be happy about this so we have to hope Thabeet does improve because we are almost guaranteed to lose Gasol in two years if not sooner via trade. This was the problem with drafting a position in which there was not a need for so high.

I'm afraid we may be in for a lose/lose with this one dark-child. Do we stick Thabeet in as a starter (or play him starters minutes) and see him exposed early on, crushing his confidence or let him come along slowly, again, crushing his confidence? I just can't get over how much of a bone headed pick this was.
Funny stat, Haddadi finished in the top 10 in blocks for the Summer League while Thabeet rolled in at 72 or so...

Double H also accomplished the feet in probably half the minutes Thabeet was on the floor.
We need a big man coach, YESTERDAY!
Is Lionel Hollins tough enough to get thru to him? Coach Calhoun is a tough mother, who probably got the most out of him, Dave Joeger did get in face (reported via twitter) regarding his effort. With Rudy and Z-Bo on the floor he had better be alert because there men will be coming his way until he shows he is a deterent.

So what happens to Marc Gasol? Easy. He should be the Grizzlies starting center, averaging 32 minutes a game, while Haddadi and Thabeet compete for the remaining 16 minutes. One of Thabeet or Haddadi will eventually end up in the D League where they can get more playing time and develop.
It's turning out to be a major mistake by Memphis in drafting Thabeet and if they want to actually win some games next season they have to go with the players that can get the job done. Gasol is one of those players. Thabeet and Haddadi aren't.

And that's how I feel about Gasol being on the bench as well. I haven't checked out the grizz board much but were you guys happy about the thabeet drafting or was there somebody else you coveted? Personally I wouldn't have wanted a project center with the 2nd overall pick.

That pretty much sums up the feelings of most of the fan base. Some are okay with Thabeet, many were not.

A lot of fans, including myself, just expected Rubio when we landed the #2 pick. He was the concensus #2 prospect, so it only makes sense for him to go #2. Of course we ended up with Thabeet, and a lot of fans and myself were alienated. Some fans tried to back up the Thabeet decision, and a lot of them looked stupid doing so.
And I knew this was going to happen all along. A potential top-5 PG was staring us in the face; he was ours for the taking, but instead of making the logical decision we take a project center with no heart because we have Mike friggin Conley. Ugh, it's a joke.
I would have been totally fine with Evans too, and that's who I believe Wallace coveted. But Heisley is running the show, and he has no idea what he is doing, hence the Thabeet pick, the Randolph trade, etc. With Heisley calling the shots, I'm adraid this franchise is doomed.

Wow How Can U say ThaBeet Is A Bust Already?? He Never played in a official nba game yet, damn i thought u had 2 wait atleat 3 yrs to even consider labeling somebody as a bust.... nobody goes Hard in the summer league dats just a few games 2 keep there muscles Active..... Yo Have ppl you neva heard of or neva seen play dropping 20's 30's and 40's in that league dats how u kno it aint that serious..... And 4 Marc Gasol, He's gonna have da most important roll on the team he's gonna be playing the Hybrid 4/5 i think he should com off the bench 4 Z-Bo and ThaBeet..... Z-Bo should average 28-32 Min a game, Thabeet gets 25-32 mins That leaves Gasol Around the same Number of mins per game 32mins...... thyat way they all are onthe floor 2gether at some point, get use to playing with each other.... every should come out happy in these situation.....

I watched Thabeet play 3 years in the Big East. It was wholly apparent that his game wouldn't translate well to the NBA. He's not tough. He's not strong. He has no fire or passion. He style reminds me a lot (too much in fact) of Stromile Swift. He was a wasted pick. If nothing else he'll be taking time away from Marc Gasol. The rookie league exposed him for the sham he's going to be.
I called this well, well before he was drafted. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Hasheem Thabeet playing underwhelming ball?
Shocking.

I really believe that, in the end of the day, we´ll be discussing who was the biggest bust, Olowakandi or Thabeet. God, I hope I´m wrong.

All while Marc Gasol is going to be a productive center.
Likely for another franchise at that.

Over zealous fans jumping to giant conclusions based off 5 summer league games?
Shocking...
How about letting the guy learn the NBA game for a while?
