Keys to the Game

1. Be aggressive and get to the FT line. Make your free throws.
2. Keep the Nuggets from scoring quick points.
3. Melo and Billups must be contain.
4. The Grizz bench needs to step up on both ends of the floor.
5. Get K-Mart and Nene into foul trouble would put a hugh dent into the Nuggets rebounding numbers.

What's up with Iverson? He said he was ready for the Raps game but the team said he's first game will probably be @ Sac, any chance we see him tonight?

BTW, was watching the Raps game, this team has unreal potential. It's probably too early, but the talent pool on this team is really amazing, they could be great.If Iverson fits in well and doesn't ruin the chemistry, this could be a extremely dangerous team comes a playoff time and a team that no one wants to play in the first round.

This game has all the makings of a very high scoring affair. The Nuggets are a favorite of mine with their high tempo game(remember, I go way back with the Seattle Supersonics and the era of Payton and Kemp when George Karl coached them).

I see a little bit of the Nuggets style in Memphis, although not on the Nuggets level. Lots of iso type players who aren't afraid to take a shot. Of course Gay has a long ways to go before he's on Carmelo Anthony's level, and Chauncy Billups is much better at running a team than Conley. But Mayo can light it up like JR Smith can when he gets hot and neither hesitates to hoist it up. Randolph and Martin like to play physical yet neither is considered a great defender. Neither Gasol or Nene need to be the main go to guy yet both are capable on both ends of the floor, although Gasol seems to want to play a bit tougher than Nene.

As long as Memphis can bring the same dedication to this game as they did against Toronto it should be entertaining although my money's on Denver. I'd love to see Demarre Carroll get in the faces of Martin and Anthony and see how they react. How much confidence does the rookie have in hmself? And speaking of rookies, with Ty Lawson we might see a matchup of two of the quickest pointguards in the league with him and Conley. That might be worthy of a comparison right there.

If Conley vs. Lawson were to happen. It would be an interesting matchup to watch. Lawson has definately prove his self worth to the Nuggets since the preseason to now. Denver may run their share of pick and rolls with Lawson in the mix. That's something the Grizz need to watchout for.

AI won't be playing tonight. Given the reason why the Grizz bench needs to step up big in this game.

Just tuned in at halftime, about 8 minutes left in the third... I notice Rudy isn't getting any offensive touches against Carmelo... That seems like poor strategy. Why not force Carmelo to play some D and see if they can get him in foul trouble?

I don't get this team..its late in the game, Mayo has like 35 points - he didnt get back into the game until like 2 minutes left and when he did, he makes a tough shot on a scrappy play, but then its like his teammates don't look for him on the next couple of possessions, they all going one on one... this is going to be so ugly when Iverson is in the lineup too

5 issues killed this team's chances on winning @ Denver.


1. Failing to stop CA from having a field day.
2. Foul troubles from not playing better defense.
3. FTs were 19-29 for 66%. It's good to get to the line, but make your FTs.
4. Getting outscored 29-22 from the bench.
5. Bad TOs' at the wrong time.

They screwed this one up. And when you play against a veteran team, who know who will get the calls. Next game they have to step up.

Disagree based on what? The way the refs called that game was asinine at best. The one play to sum it all up was when Rudy got bumped by two Nuggets players while going up for a shot. ALL the players stopped as if it were a foul, but the refs didn't even blow the whistle and Marc had to chase the ball down before it went out of bounds.

ALL the players stopped as if it were a foul, but the refs didn't even blow the whistle and Marc had to chase the ball down before it went out of bounds.

I'm not interested in getting into it with you about this, but the play that sums it up was a no-call that that didn't even result in a turnover or anything? If the game came down to one shot or something, maybe I'd give your argument some legitimacy, but I just can't do it.

Anyway, OJ Mayo always seems to put up huge numbers against the Nuggets. It'll be interesting to see how AI fits in.

I watched the second half of the game, and I was focusing on the Griz big men. Gasol didn't impress me much. Watching him, I compared him primarily to his brother. Marc seems like he has to work much harder to get shots off on offense. He doesn't seem particularly effective as a shot blocker. He does have more girth than his brother, and is harder for opponents to back down and push around in 1 on 1 play.

Randolph looked the same as ever: solid offensively, rugged rebounding, not much defensive presence.

Steven Hunter is a decent defensive player, but doesn't bring much offensively. Stromile Swift produced more blocks and more offense during his time as a Griz.

Thabeet looked very good. The only thing I noticed that he needs to work on was that on defense, when the man he was defending (without the ball) would cut to the rim, he seemed to react slowly and give his man a chance to get an open lane to the rim. He needs to do a better job of always knowing where his man is while still providing a shot blocking presence against the man with the ball.

That's fine, but even the Nuggets thought it was foul and nothing was called. Right it off as just a no call, but it's not like the Nuggets immediately went after the ball as if nothing happened. Like I said, that play summed up how the refs were calling things lopsided and apparently you reason it off as a waste of time to respond because you couldn't truly justify the bad calling. Is that fair to say?

What I meant by that was that I used Pau as a frame of reference to analyze Marc - not that the two are necessarily similar.
