http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archi ... firepower/"We would like to add to our offensive firepower off the bench but we want to do so on our terms," general manager Chris Wallace said. "We don't want to complicate our long-term team salary obligations and potentially detract from our ability to sign Rudy Gay."

JR Smith for Marc Gasol and Sam Young?
If you read between the lines their GM basically says that they are looking to dangle first round picks, not trade core players. If there's a team out there that by the trade deadline might want Hunter's expiring contract, plus a first round pick, of which Memphis has three, and perhaps convince the Grizzlies to take on a bit of salary, since the Grizzlies are a little under the cap, then they will listen.
But I read it as they aren't looking to shake things up and that they won't take any long term contracts just for a bench player.

The most likely candidates who fit Wallaces criteria or injured:
Travis Outlaw
Mike Miller
Wallace probably has been directed to not exceed the cap next year, unless for a special circumstance, i.e. Rudy sign offer sheet that is front loaded. The Grizz will still match as the dollars any other team can offer are a lot less and a year shorter, they would actually be getting a deal.
Other potential candidates have additional years on their deals so unless the package expanded to include additional Grizzlies, the pickings are slim.

Gimme a healthy Kyle Korver.
He would kill if him, Gasol, ZBo, Juice and Conley/Tinsley all on the floor at the same time.
You know Utah needs to cut salary asap too.

Yeah, Korver would work. He fits the criteria that Wallace mentioned. I saw your proposal on the trade board and it seems fine. Korver is a bit of a specialist, but a good one.
I know the Grizzlies need scoring off the bench but having someone who can defend would be nice as well. I guess that's what they're hoping to get from Carroll, and Arthur once he returns. Plus Thabeet.
But I think every good team has that 3 point specialist that can come into a game and hit a couple big shots. Jason Terry, Eddie House, and this season Jared Dudley come to mind.

As a Sixers fan who wishes we didn't let Korver go, Korver's a GREAT Team defender. If your team has communication on Defense and good perimeter D? Korver's gonna take charges, he'll help clog the paint defensively.
