What is everyones thoughts on Thabeatt so far? ??
(not sure of spelling)

Obviously he has been dissappointing as the 2nd pick, but he has contributed fairly well in limited minutes the last month or so.

- per 48 minutes he is the leading shot blocker in the NBA
- his rebounding has been solid of late
- fg percentage is high

What are everyones thought as i have not seen him play at all. What will he become? His he progressing? Are you happy that you drafted him? Do you believe he will develop? etc etc

knowing how it all is going right now, i would have drafted T.evans or Jennings, maybe even rubio. but it is unfair to say that with 35 games played. anyway, we already had a reliable Center in the team, if the team drafted him i guess cuz we trust in his development in future years. we dont need him to put up a 20-10-3blks rite now.

It is obvious that there is something left in his game. I still trust him, if we have waited 4 years for conley to break out, i guess we can do it with thabeet.

to sum up, he is a great back up for the Cspot.

He's showing progress and contributing in limited minutes on the court. However, you have to realize how raw he really is - the coaching staff runs drills that allow him to practice catching the basketball in the post. IIRC they start with oversized basketballs, used normal sized basketballs, then smaller balls all they way down to a tennis ball. Personally, I've never heard of anything like this for an NBA player.

About what I expected.

Thabeet's good for 10-15 minutes a game right now. He's shown flashes of being a defensive anchor and flashes of being a bum. Defensively, he can block shots and clog the lane. He needs to work on going after the ball on rebounds. Offensively, he's got a long ways to go. But that was expected. It's important to be patient with him, as he's got such a big learning curve compared to guards Tyreke Evans and Brandon Jennings. However, his potential strengths are much, much more sought after than what those two guards can offer.

I still can´t believe that we let Rubio pass...

Thabeet is extremely inconsistent. Some games he comes in, makes a play right off the bat, and changes the game with his defensive prowess the rest of the time he is in, altering and sometimes blocking almost every shot taken by the other team. Other games he comes in and gets overwhelmed, and then he basically looks like a chicken running around with his head cut off.

I've actually been pleasantly surprised by Thabeet this year. I expected him to always look completely lost and unable to use his size, athleticism, and timing to change the game whatsoever. At least he has shown that he has the ability to use his strengths in a real game, and if he can get even close to Mutombo's level, which is unknown at this point, then we probably made the right pick.

I still wonder what it would have been like to have Tyreke, Blair, and Young coming off the bench this year though. We almost certainly would have been a playoff team. Hopefully Thabeet will have a better long-term impact than any of the other guards taken in this past draft.

Still not convinced Evans is a PG, but it sure would have been intriguing. He could have come off the bench in a Jamal Crawford-like role to ignite the second unit. Gah, I need to stop.

Best pick for the Grizzlies. Evans and Jennings would've been horrible with the Grizz because they are ball dominant and need the ball in their hands to be effective. He averages 1.2 bpg in 10 minutes and alters countless shots, he's been as good as you could've expected.

I still stick by my assessment that there were better pickups in last year's draft. I would have taken Rubio, but that might just be me. As some have mentioned, we already had a starting center in Marc Gasol. Everyone should know that Thabeet is a huge offensive liability, and it does not seem like he has made many strides in this department. He's a niche player with shot blocking, not deserving of the #2 pick imo.

I actually prefer Thabust to Hill.

Actually Evans, Curry, Harden, Rubio, Jennings, DeRozan, Williams, Henderson, Hansbrough, Blair and Casspi were all higher on my board than Hill.
