Biggest take away is that the Grizz need bench depth desperately, and it's apparent that the front office recognizes this too (durrrr). Not so much as a replacement for a long term injury, but to keep the guys from burning out, especially on extended road trips and back ends of back-to-backs.

If I had to bet, the final piece that will be brought in will be a vet wing. Wafer fit that bill, so hopefully this signals that there's an even better fit out there.

I agree and it also makes sense for them to try and get someone that can play both small forward and shooting guard. I still like the John Salmons idea the best, but I wouldn't bet money on any one name. With the Bulls trading Gray they might want a low bench big man like Hunter as an expiring deal. And with them bringing in a shooter like Brown they might be in a position to deal Salmons.

I have to admit I never really paid much attention to Von Wafer and really can't comment on how he would have helped the Grizzlies.

With about 3-4 weeks until the trade deadline, this makes sense; we can always sign Wafer after the deadline passes, right?

If his health clears, then maybe. The idea with Salmons may not be too bad with Devin Brown being traded to the Bulls now.
