Doc Rivers Draft R1 - flaco vs. Larry_Russell*

Post#1 » by Fadeaway_J » Thu Feb 1, 2024 11:46 pm

Here is a quick list of what you need in your writeup.

1. Specific years for each player on your team
2. Rotations and minutes for each player
3. Reasoning as to why your team will win and/or why people should vote for you.

Do not vote in this thread until both managers have submitted their writeups. Please ensure you give a rationale for your vote; votes with no explanation will not be counted.

If writeups aren't posted within 24 hours, we will vote solely based on the players they have drafted (and any rotations they have posted on their roster page).

**First to 3 votes advances.**

Rotation
PG: Derek Harper (38) - Jacque Vaughn (10)
SG: Ray Allen (38) - Matisse Thybulle (10)
SF: Sean Elliott (36) - Danilo Gallinari (12)
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo (26) - Danilo Gallinari (22)
C: Brook Lopez (36) - Giannis Antetokoumpo (12)

Offense
Giannis surrounded by 4 shooters should be unguardable. Brook is the epitome of a stretch 5. Elliott is a 2-time All-Star who can thrive either as a secondary creator or as a glorified 3+D role player. Derek Harper is the old school version of Jrue Holiday. Gallinari provides instant offense off the bench. Prime Ray Allen was way more than an elite shooter. Look no further than his best plays in the following video. He led the Bucks to the ECF in his selected season.

Defense
BroLo drops and provides rim protection against SGA/Hill slashing and KG rolling to the basket. Giannis operates as a free safety. I'd argue he's the best help defender in the NBA. It seems like he's everywhere at the same time thanks to his elite physical tools and athleticism. He comfortably led the league in DBPM in his selected season. Harper is my primary POA defender. He made the All-Defensive second team in his selected season. Elliott can hold his own against opposing wings.

FGA
2019 Giannis Antetokounmpo 17.3 Image Image Image Image
2001 Ray Allen 16.0 Image Image
2021 Brook Lopez 9.1 Image
1987 Derek Harper 12.9 Image
1993 Sean Elliott 13.1 Image
2019 Danilo Gallinari 13.0
2023 Matisse Thybulle 3.6
2007 Jacque Vaughn 3.0 Image

Total: 88.0

Best of luck, Larry!

So Flaco....we meet again.

We are going to defend, mostly, straight up, with the only exception being I am going to put Hill on Allen, and Miller on Elliott

I have pretty darn good defense here. "Prime" tucker can do as good a job as anyone on Giannis, Garnett on Lopez lets him cheat a little at times to help double as needed. Lopez might get some shots, but I am OK with that as Garnett can close out as good as anyone can.

Miller can keep with Elliott and contend, SGA with Harper.

Hill will be tasked with Allen.

Offensively, I think I have a pretty great, modern style team. I have elite slashing coupled with some elite shooting.

Tucker and Miller will spread.

Hill, Sga, Garnett with run pick and roll, pick and pops all with each other, mixing it up.

SGA I dont think can be stopped. He has elite tools and speed that Harper has never faced
Hill is so crafty with the ball and great in the mid/high post
Garnett is an elite roll man who also has a great pick and pop.

And just cause I want to post Vids too....

It's not an optimal pairing because of shooting, but I think SGA and Hill give Larry more juice on the offensive end. Miller starting and KG at the 5 help mitigate the spacing concerns. I also like the Tucker/KG duo as a counter to Giannis.

I can buy that the fit on the perimeter makes up for Larry having 2 of the 3 perimeter stars Hill and SGA, however I also like peak KG more than 19 Giannis anyway, so I'll go with that. Vote Larry.

I’m also gonna vote Larry here. I don’t mind the Hill and SGA pairing, and KG is the perfect compliment at the 5
