Here is a quick list of what you need in your writeup.
1. Specific years for each player on your team 2. Rotations and minutes for each player 3. Reasoning as to why your team will win and/or why people should vote for you.
Do not vote in this thread until both managers have submitted their writeups.
If writeups aren't posted within 24 hours, we will vote solely based on the players they have drafted (and any rotations they have posted on their roster page).
Anthony Davis - 17.7 Luka Doncic - 20.5 Shane Battier - 5.9 Peja Stojakovic - 17.1 Patrick Beverley - 6.1 Austin Reaves - 7.7 Trevor Ariza - 9.7 Marcin Gortat - 3.0
Total: 87.7/88.0
You know the drill by now: spread pick-and-roll with Luka-AD, shooting everywhere, yadda yadda yadda. Peja is the perfect third option. Strong perimeter defenders in Battier, Bev, and Ariza backed up by AD in the middle.
Matchup - Reaves is being moved into the starting lineup for a couple of reasons. Firstly, with 2012 Lowry being only a solid starter rather than the All-Star he was in his prime years, the offensive benefits (adding a dynamic secondary creator alongside Luka) outweigh the defensive downgrade. Secondly, this allows us to better line up Bev's minutes with Crawford's. - Defensive assignments will be Reaves-Lowry, Luka-Christie, Battier-Kawhi, AD-Griffin, Peja-Zo. Starting Peja at the 4 means he'll have to guard a post player, and our priority is shutting off Griffin's water. Zo's post game is somewhat methodical and turnover-prone, and Griffin's lack of range means AD can provide help if and when Peja needs it. Christie's unreliable shooting also gives Luka some wiggle room to shrink the floor and be disruptive. Bottom line, we feel like we have ways to mitigate any problems that matchup might cause. - We feel pretty comfortable with the other defensive assignments. AD is a nightmare matchup for Griffin, whether he wants to go one-on-one or run pick-and-roll with Lowry. Kawhi in the chosen season wasn't able to ratchet up his scoring against KD, and here he's facing Battier and Ariza. Bev can put serious pressure on Crawford, who typically saw his already middling efficiency tail off even more in the playoffs. Larry doesn't have the kind of team that can force a bunch of switches through spread pick-and-roll or Warriors-style ball and player movement, so we should be mostly able to avoid matchups we aren't happy with. - On the other end, our lineup prevents a major challenge: Kawhi is the only player with the size to credibly guard Luka, but then how do you deal with the 6'10" Peja? He's either shooting over a much smaller wing like Christie, or dragging a big man way out of his comfort zone. Furthermore, Luka can always use AD or Peja as a screener to seek out weaker perimeter defenders.
Might not help much cause my team isnt really liked all that well due to lack of front court spacing as that seems to be a requirment now.
But lets mix it up a bit and get dirty.
Defense Christie on Luka Crawford on Reeves Kawhi on Peja Mourning on AD Griffin on Battier
Might not work, but I at least have very good defenders on the best offensive players.
Ofensively, Kawhi has more help in the starting lineup as 66 points from the front court isnt efficient.
Crawford will go iso, dont care, he scores. Christie is a good playmaker when needed, so he can fill that roll of making sure the others get shots. Griffin passes from the high post.
I would say GL Fade but I dont think you need it here.
I think moving Lowry to the bench hurts Larry's playmaking too much. Anyhow I preferred Fade's group here, makes more sense all in all, and Luka-AD is a more complementary pair than Kawhi-Griffin.
Fade has a crystal clear approach which works against any team. Luka-AD spamming the spread PnR are unguardable. Peja provides extra firepower at the wing positions. Larry has a talented team, but I think Blake is a questionable fit next to Zo cause they clog the paint for each other.
