3. This actually more of rule change to mix it up. Instead of using individual player seasons for FGA how about primes? Pick any consecutive 4 year stretch of a players career you want and take the collective average FGA of those 4 years to form the FGA amount you would use for that player.

Example - Shaq

2000 = 21.1 FGA
2001 = 19.2 FGA
2002 = 18.3 FGA
2003 = 18.1 FGA
Total FGA = 76.7 / 4 = 19.175 FGA

19.1 FGA is what I use for Shaq

Jordan opponents next?

Not seeing enough top-end talent.

Shaq
Bird
Magic
Walton
Mailman
Chuck
Penny
Ewing
Zo
Payton
Reggie

Some of those are real stretches as first rounders too.

I don't know if we need to do another version right after LeBron, but Shaq seems like the best bet for a good pool.

MJ
LeBron
Wade
KG
Duncan
Robinson
Hakeem
Dirk
Malone
Chuck
Pippen
Hill

The level below that is pretty strong as well with Manu, Pierce, Allen, Payton, Kidd, Vince, etc.

1. A draft/blind auction draft combo mix. First 2 rounds are normal draft. Last 6 rounds are done through auctions with a budget.

After first 2 rounds completed everyone submit list of 25 players to auctioneer they want to be draft eligible in the auction. Auctioneer use player lists to then make tiers and we finish draft by putting in bids for players with our budget. Highest bid gets the player.

2. LeBron Draft. Everyone starts with LeBron. Use any season you want of him. The next 7 rounds you fill out your team through the draft. You try and build best fitting LeBron team you can and knock out the other LeBron teams in playoffs.

Are auctions still a thing on this board? I remember seeing one one time and I thought it looked fun never got to try it out

You left out Olajuwon, Duncan, Garnett Kobe, Stockton, Nash, Kidd, Mullin. There is quite a bit of overlap with Lebron's draft game we just had as Jordan played in Washington. There's heaps.

Olajuwon, Duncan, KG, Kobe, Kidd never played MJ in the playoffs.

MJ also never played anyone in the playoffs as a Wizard, so that adds nothing.

I just looked at his career versus players :banghead:

Jordan played the same teams often which narrows the pool.

Shaq or Duncan opponents should be a big pool.

Nice blend of eras.

This one could be good also.

Instead of banning certain players/franchises, I think we should be imposing strict restrictions to team building. The fact we have access to practically all players in NBA history, makes the current draft massively chaotic and unpredictable! LeBron went 3rd! MJ, Shaq, Hakeem, Larry, Kobe, you name it, will most likely remain undrafted!

Here's a similar idea: 45 FGA for 7 players plus 1 player who doesn't count against the cap

Personally I really dislike the style of a draft like the current one

Why not an only recent champs draft.

Each player season chosen must come from a franchise that has been one of the last 10 champions.

Denver
GS
Milwaukee
LA Lakers
Raptors
Cleveland
Spurs
Heat
Mavericks
Celtics

Walton Rings Opponents: Chicago Denver Lakers Philly Atlanta Milwaukee Houston

The franchises that Bill Walton faced in the playoffs in the years he was champ (77', 86').

In honor of Walton.

What about All-Time Portland/Clippers/Celtics? Obviously the Celtics side would be the most loaded, especially all-time, but there are some notable Portland/Clippers players as well.

If people were concerned about too few players available to draft, we could cap the draft at 8 or 10.

Or we could make the pool any player who EVER played for Portland/Clippers/Celtics, perhaps Post-Merger? So then you add someone like Shaq for example (and could use his Lakers seasons).

Just spitballing. I'd be open to your idea as well.

This would be best as a non draft game (everyone just makes their team and then we vote for the winner).

Could there be some kind of idea where you have to put a star with someone else's supporting cast - eg. Jokic having to play with 21 Holiday and Middleton. Not sure what the rules would be to make it happen. Maybe non draft game would be a good idea for that too.

FGA subtraction draft game.

MVP player = -5.0 FGA off your 88.0 total
All-NBA 1st team season = -3.0 FGA off your 88.0 total
All-NBA 2nd team season = -2.0 FGA off your 88.0 total
All-NBA 3rd team season = -1.0 FGA off your 88.0 total

Establish a pool of draftable teams. Remove the 2x best players off said teams so it’s really just the team core.

Then hold a 3 round draft to pick 2x players and 1x team. You have to use the team you draft to complete the rest of your 8 man rotation.
