Not Loyal No Journeyman Draft - R1 - Dr Positivity* vs flaco

Post#1 » by durantbird » Mon Mar 3, 2025 1:17 pm

Here is a quick list of what you need in your writeup.

1. Specific years for each player on your team
2. Rotations and minutes for each player
3. Reasoning as to why your team will win and/or why people should vote for you.

Do not vote in this thread until both managers have submitted their writeups. Once the writeups are posted, I will add a poll, and the team with the most votes after 24 hours will advance. EACH MANAGER SHOULD ALSO VOTE FOR THEIR OWN TEAM IN THE POLL - IF YOU FAIL TO DO THIS, YOU ARE SIMPLY GIVING AWAY A VOTE. If the votes are tied, we will decide the matchup via AI vote.

You are not required to state or explain your vote, but you are free to comment in the thread if you want to.

If writeups aren't posted within 24 hours, we will vote solely based on the players they have drafted (and any rotations they have posted on their roster page).

PG: Damian Lillard (2019: 19.2 FGA)
SG: Drazen Petrovic (1993: 16.2 FGA)
SF: Michael Jordan (1991: 22.4 FGA)
PF: Bobby Jones (1983: 6.2 FGA)
C: Bill Laimbeer (1990: 9.7 FGA)

PG: Pablo Prigioni (2014: 2.9 FGA = 3.0)
SF/PF: Grant Williams (2022: 5.6 FGA)
C: Ivica Zubac (2021: 5.5 FGA)

87.7 / 88

PG: Damian Lillard (34) / Pablo Prigioni (14)
SG: Drazen Petrovic (40) / Damian Lillard (6) / Michael Jordan (2)
SF: Michael Jordan (38) / Grant Williams (10)
PF: Bobby Jones (30) / Grant Williams (16) / Bill Laimbeer (2)
C: Bill Laimbeer (32) / Ivica Zubac (16)

Defensive matchups: MJ on Doncic, Lillard on White, Petrovic on Wiggins, Jones on KG, Laimbeer on Gobert.

I'll keep this short since I don't love my chances. We're using MJ like Lebron in this matchup with Lillard/Petrovic getting open shots off him. The Laimbeer/Gobert matchup could cause him some issues stretching him out and Jones is a good defender to guard Doncic/KG pick and roll.
It's going to be a glorious day... I feel my luck could change

Best of luck, Dr P!

Rotations
PG: Luka Doncic (36) / Derrick White (12)
SG: Derrick White (24) / Norman Powell (24)
SF: Andrew Wiggins (36) / Terance Mann (12)
PF: Kevin Garnett (24) / Dorian Finney-Smith (24)
C: Rudy Gobert (36) / Kevin Garnett (12)

Offense
We run a PnR-heavy offense forcing Laimbeer to defend in space. Luka and D-White are the ball handlers. Garnett is arguably the best PnR big in NBA history. He can either roll or pop for mid/long 2. Gobert sets hard picks and rolls to the basket. Was averaging 1.38 PPP as a roll man in his selected season which ranked in the 95.4th percentile. He also led the league in screen assists averaging 6.2 per game. Seems like a perfect fit alonside a dominant PnR ball handler. Luka sets him up and vice versa. Peak Wiggins was the 2nd best player on a championship team. Doesn't need the ball in his hands to maximize his effectiveness. Would thrive feeding off the gravity of my primary creators/finishers, but can also create his own shots, if necessary. I'd argue Dr P relies far too much on MJ asking him to both carry the scoring load and assume POA duties vs Luka.

Defense
Wiggins, Derrick White and Terance Mann share POA duties. Gobert drops back to protect the rim against Jordan's slashing game. KG roams and provides defensive cover on the perimeter. The presence of a non-shooter in Bobby Jones ensures Gobert cannot get exposed on the perimeter. Laimbeer doesn't have 3pt range either giving KG the opportunity to excell as a help defender.

FGA
2008 Kevin Garnett 13.9 Image Image Image Image Image
2022 Luka Doncic 21.6 Image Image
2024 Derrick White 11.5 Image Image
2017 Rudy Gobert 7.7 Image Image
2020 Dorian Finney-Smith 7.4
2019 Norman Powell 6.7 Image
2022 Andrew Wiggins 14.0 Image Image
2021 Terance Mann 5.2

Total: 88.0
