2024-25 Season Draft SF2 - durantbird vs. Laimbeer*

Here is a quick list of what you need in your writeup.

1. Specific years for each player on your team
2. Rotations and minutes for each player
3. Reasoning as to why your team will win and/or why people should vote for you.

Do not vote in this thread until both managers have submitted their writeups. Once the writeups are posted, I will add a poll, and the team with the most votes after 24 hours will advance. EACH MANAGER SHOULD ALSO VOTE FOR THEIR OWN TEAM IN THE POLL - IF YOU FAIL TO DO THIS, YOU ARE SIMPLY GIVING AWAY A VOTE. If the votes are tied, we will decide the matchup via AI vote.

You are not required to state or explain your vote, but you are free to comment in the thread if you want to.

If writeups aren't posted within 24 hours, we will vote solely based on the players they have drafted (and any rotations they have posted on their roster page).

Nikola Jokic 25' - 19.5
Deni Avdija 25' - 11.7
Jaden McDaniels 25' - 10.2
Donovan Mitchell 25' - 18.6
Derrick White 25' - 12.6

Jonathan Isaac 25' - 4.6
Keon Ellis 25' - 5.8
Gary Payton II 25' - 4.8

87.8/88

Nikola Jokic 40 / Jonathan Isaac 8
Deni Avdija 38 / Jonathan Isaac 10
Jaden McDaniels 38 / Keon Ellis 10
Donovan Mitchell 31 / Gary Payton II 12 / Keon Ellis 5
Derrick White 38 / Donovan Mitchell 8 / Gary Payton II 2

Vs

Karl Anthony-Towns (38) / Walker Kessler (10)
Draymond Green (38) / Kevin Durant (10)
Kevin Durant (28) / Nic Batum (20)
Nickeil Alexander-Walker (38) / Kris Dunn (10)
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (38) / Kris Dunn (10)

Matchup
- Defensive assignments: White vs SGA, Mitchell vs NAW, McDaniels vs Durant, Avdija vs Towns, Jokic vs Draymond.
- White, GPII and Ellis are all great counters to SGA. McDaniels, Avdija and Issac are all great against KD. Towns will be defended by a combination of Jokic, Avdija and Issac. Avdija has the versatility and size to both contend someone like Durant or Towns, and if we go more conventional with Jokic on Towns, then we can double up KD. Mitchell is defending a very limited offensive guy and free to focus on offense.
- Jokic Mitchell are two All NBA First caliber guys this season, while White and Avdija are legit third and fourth options. While some of Laimbeer's names are more flashy, we constructed a seamless fit around Jokic and we plan to win this with coherent identity and offensive flow. Draymond and NAW are both non threats while Avdija was playing legit All Star level this season, and McDaniels can rack up points too if needed. Our bench continues our switchable identity.
- Towns may struggle to either defend against a guy like Jokic or to defend in space against someone like Avdija.

Shai, KD, and KAT are a pretty formidable big three along with Draymond's facilitating as a bonus. Plenty of creation and scoring ability. Jokić isn't known for his defense and Avdija isn't a rim protector, either. KAT will have some success posting him up.

Draymond/Jokic, KAT/McDaniels, KD/Adjiva, NAW/Mitchell, and Shai/White is pretty solid. McDaniels is a poor three point shooter who is limited on offense, so KAT should be fine.

I think we've got a bit of a talent advantage in three stars versus two.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy
