Matchup:- Defensive assignments: Holiday on Curry, Haliburton on JDub, George on Edwards, Durant on Wallace, Gobert on Allen. Durant helps off Rasheed, mainly on JDub.
- We match up pretty nicely here. Holiday on Curry is huge, he's one of the best options you can throw at Steph, and we've got a lot of length to disrupt him in other ways including George, Durant, Hali, Prince and Barnes. George and Durant are both versatile defenders who match up nicely against both Rasheed and the wing duo of Edwards-JDub. Durant is versatile enough to also guard Allen at the rim with Gobert switching to Rasheed, and we're pretty comfortable with him cheating off the bigs to help out with perimeter threats like JDub or Edwards. While Haliburton isn’t known as a lockdown defender, he held up well in the 2025 playoffs and wasn’t easily hunted. His size and instincts make him a slightly positive defender in this context. Gobert is up for a pretty effective series as well and is going to deny easy looks for Edwards JDub or Rasheed at the rim, as he can stay to the basket for most game against Jarrett Allen.
- Our offense revolves around elite synergy. Haliburton, Durant, and George offer scoring, playmaking, and spacing in ways that complement each other.
- While the opposing group certainly has talent and firepower, I think Curry Edwards don't click as nicely as Haliburton-Durant-George in terms of offensive flow. JDub and Edwards - while both can bring the ball up the floor and have respectable decision making - they're nowhere at the level of Draymond who fed Steph his entire career as an elite facilitator, so it raises a legitimate question of how fluid their offense will be.
- We feature three playoff-tested contributors in Prince, Barnes, and Ibaka—all of whom have excelled in secondary roles on deep, competitive teams. Crucially, Barnes and Ibaka provide the most reliable offensive production off the bench on either side, giving us valuable scoring support without sacrificing defense. On the other side, the bench is thinner: Fisher and Battier offer experience and defensive IQ, but less offensive punch and declining athleticism.
- We believe our defensive matchups are highly favorable, especially with Holiday on Curry and the rim protection Gobert offers. While the other side leans heavily on individual creation, our trio thrives on ball movement, spacing, and smart decision-making. Haliburton, Durant, and George complement each other’s games in a way that keeps the offense fluid and adaptable.
